well since I play warhammer my favorites are these guys:

I play 2 RTS games...none of which are in your list. lol

• Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots

I didn't play RoN long enough to have a real favorite unit...I would constantly change of nation between games, though the Germans usually had the good stuff (no, srsly. lol). And i would always create units of all kinds and purposes so it's not like i had an exact preferrence to one.

However, in Age of Empires:

Mongols FTW.
Mangudai and Paladins FTW. Uber-elite mounted archers to get rid of annoying spearmen, and some unlucky ones. Paladins to get rid of everything else. With proper upgrades, 10 Paladins alone are enough to take down a castle.

Age of Empires II. Hands down my favorite RTS. Admittedly I mostly just played against the computer.

My favorite strategy was to go Byzantines and pump out Spearmen and Skirmishers en masse. I might've made some monks to give them a little extra survivability, but for the most part I just sent droves of them with several barracks and archery ranges pumping out reinforcements.

starcraft is indeed great. but how dont you have warcraft on the list?

Sins of a Solar Empire.
Old Starcraft.
Red Alert 2.
Age of Empires III (Ottoman Empire ftw)
And now League of Legends, though its not like conventional RTS games at all.

he's got fanatics and an empire that fights horrors on all sides, what does warcraft have besides the overtypical and overly used ideas that the original warhammer thought of, just put your favorite units and just answer the poll.

Starbases in Sins of a Solar Empire




Screw all the rest of ya'll, this can wipe you out from orbit. WHILE it wipes out your whole fleet.

Lets see those take on a Retribution class imperial battleship from warhammer:

The starbases are 1/4 the size of some planets in the game, and larger than asteroid colonies. I think it can take your little ship.

the imperium of man has a nasty habit of putting multiple guns and lasers on their ships and it tends to make them slow but VERY POWERFUL, they can glass(BURN) entire planets if the said planets committed blasphemy, and since the ship I pitted against you is an imperial guard ship expect LOTS more to keep going until they achieve their objective, for the imperial guard never falter nor fear anything.

I don't see Halo Wars or League of Legends on that list, well LoL isn't exacly a typical RTS. I grew bored of brutal legends a while ago so im just gonna choose others.

Actually, that happens a lot in Sins of a Solar Empire, its the main way you obtain new planets. The capital ships each race has could be described the same way as what you said too. But we can only have 16 of them at a time (i think, it may be more, haven't played in a while).

BWAHAHAHA! IMPERIAL SHIPS WILL HAVE YOU OUTNUMBERED! So what are you favorite ground troops though?

For ground units its either the imperial guards with their large numbers or the Adeptus Astartes with their skills and equipment.

Each capital ship gets bomber squadrons. Carriers can have up to 8 Squadrons. Each Squadron has 4-10 ships depending on your Anima level. Each ship does 24-50 damage every second based on capital ship level. The bombers are also the most agile things in the game, easily faster than all other ships.


My favorite ground troops from an RTS with ground are Starcraft's Terran Tanks.

If its tanks I like the Leman Russ from warhammer.
