No. It has L and R buttons like it's original predecessor had.

Well other than those pictures being fakes, I like the idea. The only reason I can tell they're fakes though is because there's no power adapter port on that thing, and even the hands look like CG. This is just Sony building up hype for a product they haven't completed, and probably won't be released till the end of this year or sometime next year.

NGP's specs. Two analog sticks, but they didn't announce a price or battery life. Thank god it's not a phone either.
The front and rear touchpad is nice. Not backward compatible with umd. New flash media format, so no download only option.
Waiting for some killer software on it before I am sold on it.

Looks like I have to eat my words...

And from the 2nd pic, I'm guessing you can map the back touch pad to act as R2 and L2, maybe even R3 and L3 with it!

-Aeon-, why did you call it "NGB" on the title? Typos at 2AM after staying up all night watching the livestream? D: lol
Gotta edit that o3o

I didn't watch the stream last night (i was too sleepy to), but i read about it and i'm still reading about it right now...yeah, it looks very awesome, awesome features overall. The games announced so far don't convince me yet (i'm honestly not a fan of Uncharted, Resistance or Killzone...never played the last 2, and Uncharted 2 was an entertaining, yet not extremely amusing game), but i'm sure that we'll at least see the names of "Final Fantasy" and "Assassin's Creed" around there, as well as some new titles i might fall in love with during this year...so yep, i'm definetly going to get it sometime next year. It's going to be released this Christmas...but this is not going to be my christmas pressie. I know this thingy will be darn expensive, and i'm not in a rush for getting one, especially with no interesting games announced yet. I still want my PSP back, after all >3>
And yeah, it kinda sucks that they've announced a "new PSP" while i haven't yet "recovered" the one i had stolen, but on the bright side, this means alot of people will start selling their PSPs...and hopefully at low prices 'XD lol

Lol just saw your vid Aeon on youtube. I can tell you're excited.

Honestly Im not that happy especially since its not backwards compatible meaning that I wont be getting rid of my psp for sometime to get that one. Still impressive nonetheless but not to the point where Im goin to get rid of my psp for this one.

There will be two SKU's for Sony's NGP. Both will have wifi, but one will have 3G and the other won't.

I will be keeping my psp for a long while since I just gotten it last year and have yet to beat any of my psp games. Lack of BC means I get to keep it even longer

I'm glad you mentioned the gaming library. I forgot to mention a few more specs that might change your mind a little bit.

-Nearly 80 developers and publishers are currently working on titles for this system.

-It does have backwards compatibility with the original PSP games, but the lack of a UMD drive, which was a extremely important feature that the PSPGo unfortunately suffered for, and hopefully won't be a factor by the time this baby hits shelves, means that you'll have to get them via downloads on the PS Store.

-Possibly the biggest and most surprising spec is the fact that it's capable of running PS3 games. Just last night, I forgot to mention that Metal Gear Solid 4 was running smoothly on the little pocket-sized wonder, leaving the rumors about the NGP to be as powerful as the PS3 nothing but confirmed. Sony is including an "export" feature in the development kit, allowing developers to place their PS3 games into the NGP with little problem. So possible PS3 favorites like GoW III or Assassin's Creed might be on this system.

-There are dual cameras on the system. One easily seen on the rear of the system, and the other right above the Square button. So picture taking is added into the mix of possible features.

I read somewhere that Sony would be shipping an adapter with it to connect your UMD to their online services so you can get a free DL copy of games you already have. Of course, the same thing was said about the PSPgo and that never happened because they were scared it'd make it easier for hackers to make working copies of games.

Oh. One more thing. The NGP will also have trophy enabled games.

but are the games similar in graphics and in gameplay like the PS3?

Graphically? Yes. Most definitely. Several PS3 games were shown running crisp and smoothly on the hardware. Gameplay-wise? I believe so. That pic that Erranty posted indicated that due to the touch pad on the back of the system, you could possibly use L2/R2 functions and/or L3/R3 functions as well.

Well, this looks interesting.
Unfortunately for Sony, if it's not a PC, I prefer to have a hard copy of all the games I play.
Until they develop a way of enabling hard copy usage-not necessarily via UMD though-I'm not buying one of these.

Yeah, that always got me! Why have games that you can put on cards, where they load faster, and not just sell the games on those cards with the extra storage space needed for saves? It takes more money and time to put them on UMDs than it does with storage cards. They could even shrink the size of the game boxes to be smaller than DS ones that way! And they couldn't be ruined by scratches, the cases on the UMDs couldn't break making your game unusable, and the data on those cards doesn't start to decay until 2 years without use!

Likely explanation; It's SONY.
We may never understand their crazy logic...

For those who are worried about not purchasing this item because of no UMD based games, there are several reports indicating that Sony plans on converting previous UMD games into digital downloads/flash cards. Weither or not this includes //Link though, is beyond my speculation.
