Well boys, fire up those PSP's, cause Kratos is coming back to the portable, pocket sized wonder. Just recently, I made a thread regaurding to that "secret" site that was revealed when you receive the platinum trophy in GoW III, which in turn, revealed a mysterious looking background covered by rain, which started two months ago. Now, the mystery has been revealed. God of War: Ghost of Sparta is the new installement of the GoW series, and quite possibly the last. It is currently being produced by the same company that brought us Chains of Olympus, so hypothetically, we won't be disappointed with this. Storyline wise, this game will take place shortly after the first God of War, as Kratos makes his way to become the God of War. Mainly, this is a prequel to GoW II. No new info has yet been released, but expect something to pop up at E3 this year.

Sweet :3 I enjoyed Chains of Olympus, won't say it was any close to being one of the best games i've played, but it was like GoW 1 and 2 mixed together and made portable, into a game that had the whole essence of GoW though shortened. But i have great expectations for this game overall :P

Have they officially said already it's going to take part between GoW1 and 2, or is that just the biggest speculation?

It's been officially stated, according to this article posted by one of the SCEA employees. There are also screenshots available, and they look pretty damn good.

I'm glad this one will be a bit longer. I can't really do the math, but how much longer is 25%?

Man, all the games in this series are going to be prequels now, aren't they? I mean there's no one left to kill anymore, unless Aphrodite seriously pisses Kratos the f*ck off (technically, she lives past GoW III).

Aphrodite would be the greatest final boss ever.

"Congratulations on making this far. ...Ever played FEAR 2?"
"No...NOOOOOOO"

Also Artemis only appeared in the first GoW to give Kratos a sword, she didn't appear in GoW3, also Morpheus in CoO was only mentioned, we never do find out what happened with him (let alone see him). Hopefully this and more is addressed.

It's going to be sad when this series is reduced to nothing more than Kratos running around facing off with the most obscure gods in Greek mythology he's already savagely beaten all the interesting ones. Maybe he would eventually end up in Rome and kill their gods. Either that or it could all digress into a new spin-off series where Kratos travels to distant lands with his trusty tugboat companion Tugger, visiting different civilizations and fighting their gods.

Interestingly enough, this was though of when trying to conclude God of War 3. David Jaffe stepped in and said "STFU. NO. Kratos only needs to fight Greek gods as he is Greek, him fighting other gods wouldn't make since seeing as they did him no wrong."

Though I would love to see the match up of Kratos V Jesus & Moses.

Here are some screenshots of the game. I believe the summary a few months ago was wrong on most people's parts about the Blades of Chaos being used in this installment, because the blades in the screenshots look very similar to the Blades of Athena.
