Has anyone ever noticed the EXTREME similarities between Haseo from .hack and Sasuke from Naruto? Serious, they're almost exact carbon copies of one another. >_>

Similarities end after Volume 1.

Considering the fact that Kite was loosely based off of Naruto, it's entirely possible that Haseo was based off of Sasuke, though as I said, they quickly become completely different characters.

 Sasuke is on permanent godmode. Does Haseo ever do anything like that after Volume 1?

Well, aside from the duckbutt hairdo. I still haven't forgiven Haseo for that.

Most people have thought that comparison at least once. At least when the characters weren't developed like they are today.

Same character, different paths.

Though if Sasuke ever does turn good for whatever crazy reason then you could probably equate them to each other again.

...? I'm sorry but how do you figure that? There are some vague things that are the same but that's comparable with pretty much any storyline. There personalities are completly different and their goals aren't even very similar.

She means his proportions.

Of course, Haseo seems more like Sasuke because they're both voiced by Yuri Lowenthal.

Looks



Now, both Haseo and Sasuke have a few similar characteristics regaurding to their looks.

-Both have similar hairstyles, which spikes outward at the back.
-Both have red eyes, (If you count Sasuke's Sharingan.)
-Later on in each of their series, they wear their bangs downward, covering their foreheads.



Appearences

Both Haseo and Sasuke have a wide variety of appearences and clothing, more than any other character in their series.


Powers

In G.U. Haseo had the power of controlling an Avatar. He was able to move Skeith on his own will and consciousness. Sasuke has a power quite similar to that, thanks to, as haseoxth calls them, his "gameshark/action replay" eyes.



In Susano'o, Sasuke is able to move a giant spiritual being at his own will, much like Haseo controlling Skeith in Avatar Space. The only real difference here? Susano'o can't fly from what we've seen so far.

Voice

Both Haseo and Sasuke have the same english VA, as Super Robot stated, who is Yuri Lowenthal.

Personality

For the first 7-8 years in his life, Uchiha Sasuke was a kind, loving, and innocent boy. Unfortunately, after witnessing the genocide of his clan by the hands of his brother Uchiha Itachi, he grew into a cold, dark, and asshole-ish state. Currently,  He's grown even darker than before.

Haseo kinda started the same way, but ended up differently in the end. After witnessing Shino's death, Haseo grew into an cold and an asshole-ish state as well. However, after the end of Vol.3 He became a completely different person, fighting for his friends, and protecting the ones he loved.

Motives

Sasuke wanted revenge on his brother Itachi for slaughtering his clan. Currently, he still wants revenge, but his focus has changed on  the elders of Konoha and all of Konoha itself.

Haseo, much like Sasuke, wanted revenge on Tri-edge, after witnessing Shino fall before his presecence. However, much like Sasuke, his first attempt at getting it, failed miserably. His second try though, was a sucess, which was again, just like Sasuke. However, Haseo's motives had constantly changed over the course of G.U.

And that's my take on the subject.

I'm pretty sure you pointed out yourself that Haseo and Sasuke are very, very different development-wise... Haseo became likable by the end of Volume 3, and Sasuke is progressing deeper and deeper into the realm of being the most dislikable character in the manga.

Well, personality wise, they started off the same way, then became anti-parallels shortly after Haseo was lucky enough to gain friends, but the other 80% of the post? They're extremely alike in those fields.

*And I wouldn't say dislikable to everyone. I'm rooting for him to win against everyone, that way we won't have a freaking predictable ending.*

Predictable endings are the name of the game. The manga is named Naruto, not Sasuke, so it's pretty obvious who's gonna win.

And still, Haseo's differences from Sasuke make him way better as a character.

Nah. Main Characters have died in their own series before in anime/manga. I'm just hoping this is another one of those instances.

Even if Naruto did die, I'd be willing to bet that the majority of fans would prefer that Sasuke die as well.

Of course, as far as I'm concerned, the whole manga has just become one giant Ass Pull. It could've had potential, but the author pulled a Kubo, big time.

...and besides, Haseo is a sexy beast, and Sasuke's existence will never change that.

In answer to the authors question; Yup.... i'd say people have noticed.

I kind of noticed long time ago but to me that isn't Importion (Sorry Naruto fans I'm still a Bleach fan) but it dose make Haseo a little special I guess now if they did a crossover that would be fun to see.

I second that the cross over notion.

Any character in a manga/anime or even game series can be similar. As for the whole Haseo and Sasuke thing:

The biggest link is that Yuri Lowenthal voices both of them. Character motivation is really unique to that character, though I will admit the basic sort of 'revenge' is there. If for some reason you don't watch Naruto you wouldn't even notice it.

Personally I find Sasuke to be pretty two dimensional because his character rarely shows any real feelings. Even if he does they don't last long because his character is forced into revenge mode. His main goal is power and defeating whoever caused the Uchiha massacre.

Haseo on the other hand is somewhat like the teen who loses his girlfriend or mother. His main goal wasn't power in the sense of needing it for himself. He wanted power in order to defeat Tri-edge, and wasn't forced into revenge mod all the time.

Its all about the hair. They're trying to be cool like Vegeta in the back, and emo in the front. They both have the random "don't you look down on me you prick!" attitude Vegeta had. Its just that one's a hero/avenger and the other is a brat that was handed great power and never had to work for it!

IE:
Haseo had to complete the forest of pain to get to level 144 ALL ON HIS OWN, then it was taken away and he had to build back up again.
Sasuke INHERITED the Sharingan, was trained by Orochimaru, and now he wants to destroy the leaf village because his own brother killed his whole family! Lets face it, dude's a spoiled brat!

You have to admit it, duckbutt hair styles are pretty cool. Am I rite?

Haseo would look WAY cooler if he had a hairstyle more similar to Leon Magnus.

(off-topic but related to the hairstyle: I think that CC2 just knows how to do the 'do so much better than Kishimoto. Tarou and Haseo are both >>>>>>> Sasuke. XD)
