First time posting in this neck in the forums since I got back~

Has anyone else seen/heard of a anime called "Durarara!!"? Prior to watching it, I only knew two things about it; hot guys and fight scenes. (There was a lot more to the show than that though; and surprisingly, more than just 2 characters; though everywhere I go, I just see like two guys..)

Surprisingly though what made me go check it out was all the hype. Everywhere I went on deviantART (I sound like a total tart but that is where I hangout most of the time OTL I apologize) everyone was like "OMG I've only seen one episode so far but it's amazing everyone go watch it now!!!1one!1!" and such. (The series is so far only on episode 6, not sure when 7 comes out)

Honestly, I thought it was good- better than the average generic anime; but I wound up being hurt by the hype-backlash =\

Basically I see why people like it, but I don't see why in the heck it's such a big deal. I feel like I'm missing something..

Personally I thought Baccano was better; though I know they were made by the same person and animation studio.

Yeah, I'm probably missing something ^^; Also, I do recommend it; but don't go jumping in all hyped up and excited like I did XD

EDIT: Btw, normally, I either a) don't give into the hype at all, or b) I already know what a show is gonna be like and whether or not I'll fully enjoy it, even if it is being hyped up. So this was a rare, if not new experience for me; the backlash that is.

I've been meaning to watch this, finally got the chance. Loving it so far. I haven't really watched any anime since... a long time. Loving this though, you know you're a badass when you punch the clothes off of someone.

The best part about parodies; tracing is A-Okay XD (Not that I support tracing, but for a parody it's much quicker and accurate 'cause the characters are like a base)

No, I meant Saika or whatever her name is now. For the girl, not the scientist. I put them because they would be the only RX members. That and she can pull off that moody pose.

With the exception of Pi/Yata. Which was wrote that way on purpose.

Actually, the video part would probably be the easiest. Not positive, but it could probably be put together easy with even windows movie maker. The first images before could probably be easily taken from Tsukasa's flashbacks or from Liminality.

Yeah, I mean, I probably don't lack the technology for it; I just lack good .hack// clips, or any for that matter XD (Also great idea usin' the Tsukasa flashbacks, it'd save me from havin' to draw backgrounds which I fail epically at @_@)

Also for the last two characters at the bottom, I'd probably draw Elk and Mia anyway 'cause of the kitty ears XD

Endrance as Izaya. Perfect, both coolest looking characters.

I have yet to see this anime...is it funny? Because if it is, consider me hooked, I love comedies. =)

I've only seen the first six episodes myself, but it's got a lot of weird moments. like. They're funny but I don't think they're really trying to be hilarious or comical. like when Izaya stomps on this Ganguro girls' cell phone. I was just like "lol whut?" but he sure was giggling and having a good time.

But yeah. It's certainly not a bad anime, but I don't have a friggen clue as to why it's so popular. It's definitely nothing new in Anime, that's for sure; though everyone acts like they've never seen guys like Izaya before...heck he might even be a watered down version of whatever it is I've seen before. (I like Shizuo better myself, but even then...)

I still think Baccano > Durarara
