During English class today, our teacher had given us a simple, yet controversial topic. She basically told us:

"The difference between good and evil is clear."

Well, I thought, "Well Duh...> >" but after re-thinking about it, I wondered if there truely was a clear difference.

So what do you guys think. Is there a clear difference?

The difference between right and wrong is never clear to some extent. One may say that a certain action or deed is considered evil, yet another may see that same action or deed is good. In a closer perspective, many have stated that there is a gap between what is morally good and what is morally bad. However, that distinct gap has since been blurred by the differences of human thinking throughout the past.

There is not “one” moral that can be considered good or bad in this world. Even if a certain majority agrees upon it, there will always be one who will oppose it. This has constantly been the way that has paved the road of human beliefs and morals since the dawn of our existence. From the times before Christ to the days of the present, the results of agreement upon what is good and what is bad have continuously ended up in conflict.

Religion has also affected how we reflect upon morals. The bible and Christianity for example, have shaped the ways certain countries govern their citizens by establishing distinct laws in order to set up a boundary between what is just and what is vice. Regardless, some citizens disagree with what has been set up for them, and challenge the authority of the powers that had enforced the laws. These particular acts to challenge the authority are viewed by most people, as crimes in their country.

Nonetheless, these specific ideas and thoughts all fall into subjectivity. Not one moral is agreed upon every inhabitant of the world. People will always have different perspectives on the acts of other people, regardless of their nobility or immorality. Nothing about human actions can be deemed as factual, because they’re of course, deemed by humans, which is why there is no clear difference between good and evil.

I was reading about a lecture from Aristotle in my Morality/Philosophy class today, the lecture was talking about the relationship between choice, emotions and feelings, and choice. Basically Aristotle believed that right and wrong is influcened by choice, saying that we can choose to either take in the good or bad thing or avoid it. But at the same time that choice can be influenced by emotions and feelings. And not only that he also said that we may do something bad or good involuntarily.

The difference between good and evil is the amount of people who accept whatever it is as good, and whatever it opposes as evil.

Ahh, Good vs. Evil, the ultimate duality, there is a difference, but there also two sides of the same coin. Neither can exist without the other. If all evil was to perish, good would too, or default to neutral. Yin to Yang, black to white, mania to bipolar, etc. Can't have a hero without a villian and vice versa. Gotham city's crime indirectly created Batman with his Bruce's parents death, and he indirectly created Joker, or he came about as a result of Batman, and he was the result of a tragic crime.

The difference between the very definition of good and evil is clear, but actual good or evil deeds/people/etc are not. That's where the root of the controversy tends to come from.

So yeah, of course there's a difference. And that's all I'm saying for this particular topic. Unless you hooligans do something stupid.

Duh. Good and Evil are different, that difference being that with evil, you're pretty much being a colossal dick.

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself a villain." (Not sure if it's worded right.)

Good and evil are interchangeable because of morals. The terms were coined by humans, much like religion and ethics. There is only a difference in how you are raised. Everyone has their own morals.
