Oh no, the Japanese haven't gone crazy. They've gotten smart.

This is pretty old news, but yeah. They made a life-sized gundam. Now all we need is Godzilla to awaken and fight it.

In the news coverage they said it will light up and move around... Makes me wonder if they've gotten their gyro-balancer tech advanced enough to get it to walk without falling over. Or if they just mean its arms and upper body will move.

It'd be a real embarrassment if they tried to get it to walk and during the first step it fell over onto the crowd!

Oh yeah, I remember reading about this a couple of months when they only had the legs; it's to celebrate the gundam 30th anniversary. I wish I could go see it, I'll just have to conform with the pictures :\

The whole thing about it being an elaborate statue is a hoax. It's going to be a fully functional Giant Mecha capable of taking down any army...and Japan is hiding it in plain sight.

Japan is now ahead of all of us in weaponry. 30 years, and none of us saw Gundam for what it really was: not a show, but plans.

They said 18 meters. 1 meter being equal to 5 feet makes it 90 feet tall. So essentially its as tall as a 9 story building. And I think the millions of dollars made off the gundam franchise should cover the bill.

Not really. The U.S. has been developing EMP wave generator technology for quite some time. One wave could shut down an entire gundam army, and fry the circuit boards to make them unusable.

And if nothing else we'll just make tar cannons that shoot sticky globs of tar at the eyes to make the pilot unable to see anything.

true that. Maybe the Egyptians have a vast storage of Metatron underneath the Pyramids of Giza.. or maybe Anubis WAS an OF :S
