Hey,
Can someone give me details about the gameplay will it be traditional turn based like final fantasy IV or will it be the crappy(what square enix calls) real time?

I have been looking at vids on youtube but after about 3 vids it brings me to one that ive already seen and just cant find anywhere to give me substantial information...

Thanks!

Considering very little info about the game has been released, whatever you saw is all that's really out there. Just wait six more months before anything definitive comes out.

uhh there's something wrong with what you said. FFIV is not traditional turn based. FFXIII has the same system FFIV uses. The only difference is that they keep the game moving instead the characters looking like they are standing still.

FFXIII: battle can be described as fast moving action with ATB(active time battle). You input commands and the game determines how fast those commands should take Example:
Attack>Attack>Attack Is a quicker command than Attack>Attack>Fire.
When you fill up a gauge(The name which escapes me) allows you a new command Lunge. Which allows you bounce the enemy into the air dealing extra damage.
that's all i remember.

Everyone else can explain it, but if you're looking for more (and probably better) videos, here:

So is the battle gameplay going to be similar to XII?

Similar in that you fight on the map, otherwise totally different. Instead of Gambits there's a queuing system...

I wonder why she's called Lightning.

Voice Acting is spot on. Gameplay looks new and exciting, and Lightning, well, looks like Cloud in a skort.

She's not as bad as SHEphiroth.

OHHH, her code name is Lightning. She doesn't know what her real name is. Apparently you figure it out during the storyline along with her past.

I figured out why her name is Lightning.

So, to basically sum up to what you just said, XIII follows the traditional turn-table "Rock-Paper-Scissors" format where you constantly shift through menus to activate a certain skill, imput a certain command or commands, and watch it performed in either sucession of failure, then repeat the process on the enemy side and so on and so on? Only this time, the action is smoother, faster, and more fluidly motion based? Your response will determine if I get this game or not, because believe it or not, I not very fond with RPG's that go through the "Rock-Paper-Scissors" format for the basic battle system, which is why I haven't played certain Final Fantasy games. .hack// barely made it into the picture in my case.

Hmm, I sjust aw the Japanese version of the trailer and some things are different. There's more screaming for one, and Maaya Sakamoto sounds a little more badass. Also, dialogue...

"For every task, there's a perfect tool" was originally "That's an important tool for sinking Cocoon." (I think they'll probably redub this for the actual game, and that probably goes for the rest of the trailer, too) And Lightning says, "I don't want to die a tool," which I thought sounded much cooler than "I don't want to die for one of them." Not to mention how Snow saying "Lightning" at the end was kinda weird (in the original it's "nee-san" and saying anything at all is kinda Japanese too begin with, so I guess it's hard to translate). It's a fair dub, though...
