Wow, your right it is nice!
I like the song they choose for the opening, the singer is one of my favorites.

The OP was one of the greatest I've seen, but the ending was even better. Simplistic yet well done.
Now, about the episode. I must say it was worth the wait. The artwork is true to manga, and those thought bubbles were an added bonus. Even though it can basically be called a filler episode, it did a great job of introducing most of the main cast of the series. I look forward to seeing how well this show develops. Hopefully, it's stays true the manga, and just as great as the former series.
And when the stone disappeared, that was Father closing his eyes right?

I'm excited for the new season of FMA, since I love the manga.
I have yet to catch the first episode, but I plan to just follow the releases of it on FUNi's website anyway. I believe the first one should be up this Wednesday.

I'm a big FMA fan, so when I heard that this was coming out, I was pretty excited, and this was everything I'd hoped for and more. One question, though: Was it supposed to take place right before the first episode? And, is it going to be like a remake of the first season, or is it going to continue off COS at all?

Considering Ed and Al are in Ametris, it cant be after CoS. And its a completely new series, following closely with manga, so its gonna be good.

Better than the original by over 9000 times. My boyfriend says it renewed his fandom, which is bad because he's a NUT.

So they're starting off the series totally anew? And its not gonna be any of that
ZOMG ENVY'S UR BROTHER stuff? If it's sticking close to the manga, I have no doubt it'll be good.
Did anyone notice that they're all more blonde than before? Like, it's luminescent. Is there a new person/group animating it? I noticed that some of the faces looked slightly different.

First thing I did afterschool was watch it lol
I liked it a lot, but I have to comment on something though. If I didn't read the manga or watch the old anime, I'd be lost as f*ck since they kinda show half of the main characters right away

I think Bones studio is doing it again. But the art style is a little different to reflect how it is in the manga, which is a good thing. And if Ed turns into a brunnette again......... yea.

I just finished watching. Pretty AWESOME episode, already introducing us to the main story directly as well with some characters, and giving some referrences about what happened in events before and some of what will happen later. Pretty good artwork too, and i can barely notice any differences between this one and the old one XD I enjoyed it quite much.
And actually, i don't consider neither the opening and the ending to be as amazing as you said, both in song and "video" :/ Sure, they're pretty awesome and the songs are quite enjoyable, but i've seen better, and one of them was an opening from the old FMA...can't remember which but both the song and the opening itself were amazing XD

Because I'm feeling lazy, here's some copy pasta of my thoughts from another site:
"I watched the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood earlier. It's kind of confusing, since the whole idea is that this "sequel" will be following along the manga's plot, yet the first episode was something never seen in the manga. It gets clearer later though, and it's actually pretty interesting that the events are happening right before the first manga.
This episode was basically just a way to introduce the audience to the series again (OMG NO WAI) and remind everyone that, "Hey, these characters exist." I think they were also showing off (AGAIN, NO WAI). Anyway, the animation was pretty - heck, really frickin' pretty - and the music that I remember was nice. They kinda overdid it on the "lol ed is short" jokes though.
One last comment: Funi's site took FOREVER to load the darn thing. Two hours, people! And I have high speed internet! Man, they must be getting a lot of traffic."

Thats why I became a criminal to watch it. And I can't wait for this to be dubbed. At this past MegaCon, the cast of the series was there, and I asked Vic Mignogna(Ed) personally if he was interested in reprising his role, to which he said he would love to, and that its almost certain to happen within the next few months. On the other hand, Aaron Dismuke said he might not because he doesn't want to be remember as the boy trapped in the suit of armor. You can tell theres a money issue.

I believe FUNi will be updating their site with new episodes every week, just a few days after the airing of it in Japan.

The episodes are rolling out in Japan every Sunday, and FUNi says they will have them up by Wed. the lastest.

Oh then you guys are waiting too long. I'm not saying where I watch mine (cuz I think it's against board rules) but lets say just google it
EDIT: I didn't really like the 2nd episode. It's another one of those introductory episodes. But there are noticeable changes to how the story starts
