They're roleplaying games that have an interesting quirk. It's one half dungeon crawling, the other half life sim, as your characters are modern teenage high schoolers who have to balance their academic and social lives. This is important because they possess the power of Persona, the ability to summon monsters that represent their personalities and hearts. Thus, the way you develop their minds effects the monsters and powers you have in battle against the Shadows, personifications of negative emotions.

But, isn't that only on P3 and P4?

Yea, and the other two sucked.

You mean 3 right? P1 Revelations, P2 Innocent Sin and P2 Eternal Punishment. I actually have them, but I really haven't had the time to play them that much so I can't tell if they are really that bad. What I know is about the crappy translations and the changes they made between the Japanese and the American version.

The latter are really the same game, really. They basically took a multidisc game and sold them separately, like .hack, except not as well-done.

"The game has the player take the role of a male high-school student who joins up with other members of SEES—the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad—to attack Shadows and other beings that emerge during the "Dark Hour", a time period between each day which only few humans are aware of. The player uses weapons and magical abilities gained by the use of "Personas" to defeat foes in a turn-based combat system. An iconic feature of the game is the method by which the members of SEES release their Personas: by firing an Evoker, a gun-like object, at their head. In addition to typical RPG elements, the game includes elements of dating simulation games as the player character progresses day by day through a school year, making friends and relationships that improve the strength of his Personas in battle.

The game was well-received by critics and earned several gaming awards for 2007."

The above is about Persona 3. If you are going to get into the series, start with that one. It's for the PS2. Go on down to your local Gamestop and pick up a copy of the FES edition of the game. It's $30 brand new.
What does FES stand for?

FES has an extra chapter of the story, along with the original game, called Aigis Episode; and if I'm not mistaken they added a few new things in the original, costumes and some scenes.

I just enjoyed the "shooting yourself in the head" concept in P3. It matched the teenage feel of the game perfectly. *suicide* XD

Though, in all fairness, if not for the gun thing, I'd have never picked up Persona 3. I was all, "Demons summoned by suicide? AWESOME."

I've played Persona 4, then I played Persona 3. Honestly, I prefer P4 over P3 mainly because of the character interactions, better humor, and the musics and plot themes.

I do like P3, but at the endng, it kind of was disappointing.

Aigis mode right? It was quite intriguing, but as I've said before, how Teddie wins every inch over Aigis for having numerous humor within his quotes, P4 quite defeats to the progress. Also the environment of P4, I love country side, where there are friendly developments. While P3 was City wise. As for musics, P4 quite beats it with Boss Fight "Fight Myself" and "Reach out the truth" are really nice to listen to. As well for "Heartbeat, Heartbreak" and such

If you say Fuuka voice acting was good, your ears are deaf >_>;;

I hated her voice act, I am not kidding. I'd choose Rise over Fuuka anytime.

Aside from the fact that musics by Shoji Meguro from P4 has better rythms comparing to P3. P3 musics were dark, but in ways some musics were kind of annoying to hear. and the part about Aigis, she maybe cute for fanboys wise, but Aigis wasn't much impressive as Teddie had similar personality of what other normal guys would have had.

and as for gameplay and story character wise, P4 characters seem realistic and closer than P3 relationships. P3 characters, most of their fathers (like Mitsuru and Yukari) had their weird issue of getting involved within Shadows, which doesnt seem too realistic. (Infact getting inside the TV and seeing Aura wannabe character is also weird but). Still, I liked brighter version of Persona game.
