Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
I only played through it once it takes some time to finish it really the data drain in the end of the game is just random it picks where it is going to place the data bugs there really is no skill in that part just luck.

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
...You 2 reply to each other alot and not only in this topic XD
Anyways, i agree...while you do need the skill to figure out how to defeat the enemies without dying, how to get them into Protect Break the fastest, the best Data Drain to use (usually just normal DD...Drain Arc ONLY if you had like 3 enemies "broken" at once), and how to make Kite deliver the final blow to decrease infection....but yeah, if, taking the shortest route, ALL you do is fight Data Bugs, get to red in Floor 10th and get the worst outcome the next time you use DD, then there's nothing your skills can do about it XP It's not really that hard, even though it's the hardest challenge of all .Hack games so far...it's just heavily dependant of luck.
It would suck so much if you got a System Error trying to DD the last Temptress Wanderer enemy thing XD

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
Your right me and him do reply to eachother and it is just lucky that I had more normal monsters intsead of data bugs but if you use data drain before going to that place I recomend that you go to a low level place and kill all of the monsters because it doesn't always show if you are getting up to the red or anyother color.

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
Wait, dungeons with nothing but data bugs!? I just started QUARANTINE and I haven't had anything too tough so far... then again, I'm only in the beginning. The highest my infection rate has ever been was yellow... but that's primarily because I have this tendency NOT to use DD. (And thanks to overleveling, it hasn't gone any higher in Phase fights.) I really wanted to do the last dungeon with Mia, but now I'm not so sure... if it's that easy to get a 100% infection rate.
(Edit: Crap, I just realized the last post was over a month ago. Someone shoot me. >.<)

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
The data bugs shouldn't scare you from doing the Mia dungeon. When I did it, I got lucky and managed to not encounter too many of 'em; even made it to the end with only 0-10% infection rate. That was on my first try, too. Really, it's all a matter of luck when it comes to just how many data bugs appear from the portals.
(And no worries, as long as the last post wasn't over four months old, you're good.)

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
I recently had my first encounter with random data bugs... in one of the White Room dungeons.
I guess it's all a matter of getting lucky with the Mia dungeon. I'll probably know better once I beat QUARANTINE.

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
I don't think it depends on luck. If you're doing it right, you should only need to use one drain arc no matter how many enemies appear in a room. The trick is to have Kite tank and have everyone else just heal him from afar. Use area attacks and deal blows equally and you'll have no problem getting simultaneous Protect Breaks. You'll get ghosted a bit, but that's why you're smart and have your party stocked with 198 resurrects and Skill Drain equipped on your weapon. I forget if there are any enemies there that are immune to physical attacks, but if there are they are much rarer than the enemies immune to magic so they shouldn't be a problem...

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
I think that there are the monsters that are immune to physical attacks but when they show up there are three of them they are those ghosts with that have the floating sword and they are a pain to get protect break on.I really didn't run into any of the team data bugs other than those I kept getting all of the sand hill ones so I had to use it over and over but I kept getting all of the normal monsters after but I think it is just based on luck it is random where they are placed on the map.
Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
Well, if you have Helba, Elk, and Mage Souls, getting a group protect break on those guys isn't that hard either. Have Kite tank again and get them all together, then have them use area magic, which with the right weapon is the same as "use magic"...

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
That is what I did but it just takes so long to get through that dungeon I just wanted to stop like halfway through just because of all of the data bugs but the ghosts are a pain because they can deal out a lot of damage to you which is hard because either you have your party healing you or you heal them and the one that isn't healing would be using the maagic that is what I did against them but I think they can hit death.
Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
By this dungeon you should have more gold than Wiseman, and enough to stock everyone up on loads of the essential healing items. If you hammer "use healing" they'll use the instantaneous items rather than spells, and they'll have a lot more time for attacking, which you should also order via team chat. I'll admit that Kite dying a lot is annoying since you lose control of him for a couple of seconds, but avoid any strategy where you're the one doing the healing since that freezes you for even longer. The AI can use a resurrect at the first possible instant, I've never had a problem with this strategy that didn't involve Macha (you actually have to heal somebody if you kill both your teammates) or running out of items...

Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
Heh, okay, good point. You're right, there is a strategy involved, which you guys seemed to go over already but I'll repeat anyway. Using Helba and Elk, you spam spells and then once the enemy gets a Protect Break you use Data Drain/Arc and deal the final blow with Kite. (Although I remember I didn't use this tactic every time; once in awhile Kite would get in a physical attack to Protect Break 'em.)Kuukai wrote:I don't think it depends on luck. Generally this works throughout the entire dungeon. So yeah, thanks for mentioning that. I guess I meant it involves luck in that if you get spammed with Data Bug monsters every single portal then it could be difficult. It's luck of the draw whether you'll get regular enemies which help to lower your infection rate or if you get more Data Bugs.
Re: Data Drain Infection Rate
Actually, iirc, most of the later floors are entirely one or the other. Use a Fairy Orb to plot a course with the least encounters, and if you get through a whole floor only encountering normal enemies, you should either clear out the entire floor to lower your infection rate, or (I just thought of this) come back later if you don't really need it. I'm not sure that last idea is too helpful though, since I think the place is planned out such that you *need* those floors by the time you get to them...

So...last dungeon topic?

Furthest I made it was floor 10. After that I ended up with a game over. The whole thing is a luck game going in. x_x

For the harder dungeons (especially the last one), just get lucky and fight non-Data Bugged monsters when you can. Also, don't bother exploring the entire dungeon; just get to the lowest level as quickly as possible.
Yup, true true...
