Ok, so i was in Spanish class the other day in high school, and me and a couple friends of mine got bored, so we began to play cards.(Dont worry, i have a point coming up). While playing cards, the teacher walks up to us and teaches us the words of all the suits and cards. When he got to the rank of "Queens", he told us it called "Reina" but said exactly the same as "Rena" from .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT BRACELET. Could this be a coincidence or does it mean that Rena is some sort of queen, maybe of The World?
Any opinions welcomed.
(See, i told you there was a point)

Maybe you should look up the link to .hack, considering spanish wasn't put into it...from what I know.

"Rena" is a perfectly normal Japanese girl's name. Written in hiragana, it's her name in the real world, while in katakana, it's her character name.

Now, if you want to look for symbolism connected to her, see what you can find out about the name "Brigitte" (and variations thereon).

I'm going with it's basically just a coincidence. Reina/Rena is a sort of popular name in some places.

And a Shogun is like an apprentice to a Samurai...
That sounds familiar to Shugo (Switch the vowels, take away the N)...
But I'm sure it's a name rather than something close to that.

Hotaru = Hot, are you? ;P

Vowels? There's almost no such thing in Japanese.

Hotaru is ALSO a popular girl's name in Japan. The American player must of saw Sailor Moon on TV or something.

I know, I was only talking, I wouldn't dare spread any of that like it were serious. (:

I think you're just thinking way too hard. This stuff happens all the time. Like how "Sai" is another common name in Japan even though it means "sh*t" in Korean. Are people going around naming their kids that? Nope. Mere coincidences.

You could also look at it as a foreshadowing into her as the lady in the Tanaban event in LoTB anime.

It's sort've a pun. Shugo is the hero, and Rena is the princess damsel in distress.

In the anime, anyway.

Oh god, that's an even better reference! In both the anime and the manga, Rena is a total drama Queen. Her namesake strikes again.
