So i just realized that the fullmetal alchemist manga is still being made and that the anime ended in 2004 in japan and 2006 in America. and the movie Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa came out the same year. now from a TV series point of view the movie is the actual series finale of the story, but my question is, is it really the end of the series even though the manga is still going on? I have been hearing so many rumors that the series is going to pick up again, due to high demand. and i was wondering how will they pull that off when the movie in the story. I mean i thought the movie was boring and it only had some good points. I do enjoy the series as a whole though and i was thinking about it more and more since i keep on hearing hte resurrection rumors. However, i am just so lost. it seems that the anime and the manga are just worlds apart (and to which they are to a point). i am wondering how they will actually start the series up again if they do. does anyone have any ideas or any concrete proof that the series is coming back. also! the movie IS ACTAULLY the series finale for the anime right?

uuuuuuuh kay-next time paragraphs baby.
OK the manga is still going on, yes. It is on a very different wavelength then the anime-for that matter a better wavelength.
The anime finishes with conquest of shambala.
If they went back and re-did it, the things you wouldn't see would be lyra/dante, the jewel thief psiren(or whatever her name was) and the fake elric brothers, pride(anime, izumis child version) and ed and al's mum-homonculous . They're anime only characters. Additionally, everything from the greed arc onwards in the manga is totally different.
How they would pull this off? I have no clue. The manga is still going and even though it looks like the final battle is about to happen it doesn't look like the manga will finish for quite a number of chapters yet.
Also, this is a minor major spoiler(minor in the fact that they in the manga don't realise or acknowledge it but major in characters development) ED IS NOW TALLER THEN WINRY!

It'd be really hard to pull it off after everything they made up in the anime and its movie; though I must admit I'd be interested to see it. Maybe they'll do something like they did with TRC with Tokyo Revelations? But obvisouly an OVA won't be enough for the on-going story, still, that's the only thing they can do by now. At least that's what I think.

Sadly, the movie had to be the end of FMA.
I wouldn't mind a spinoff something like that, but since it's complete theres no hope for one...Oh well, it's still a awesome series that can be watched over and over again. The manga is really good too, so even if there isn't a spinoff or anything like that you can keep enjoying it.~

i thought as much. i really enjoyed the series, but i thought the movie was rather dull. i didnt feel that it was enough. and i thought the over all ending of it. when ed and al chose to live in the other world without all of their friends is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. i wish the anime and the manga followed the same story line so we could have had much more too see. i mean the manga is only in 19 volumes. that isnt THAT bad.
i was just extremely disappointed when i saw the movie yesterday. it wasnt what should have been delivered. or am i the only one that feels that way?

The anime couldn't follow the manga for the same reasons as Inuyasha; the manga wasn't complete and the anime caught up with it.

Hey, I have a question- What happened to Ed's zipper?
For half the series his black jacket has a zipper, and then the other half there's a little clip thing for it up top. Did he have to use it for an emergency transmutation or something? (At an anime con I'm going to next month, Vic Mignogna's gonna be there, and i swear I'm gonna ask him this question.)
Anyways, actually on subject, even with high demand I don't know how they'd pull off another FMA season o_O Unless they did it sorta like Negima and just redo the whole series with another anime. At least, i think that's what they did with negima. I don't know, I'm just going off of what my obsessed friend told me =_='

You, go watch the simpson episode with poochie(The new character on the itchy and scratchy show voiced by homer) and wait for homer and the other chick to be in a fan question scene. Then you will learn the true nature of your question.
the manga is only released 1 chapter a month, so if they were gonna wait for the entire lot to come out, you might be a few years yet.
