The IFMagazine.com entertainment website reports that film producer Erwin Stoff (The Matrix, A Scanner Darkly) is developing a live-action adaptation of Sunrise's Cowboy Bebop multi-genre action anime series for Fox. Stoff told the website that the project is "in the really early stages" since the parties "just signed it the other day." Shinichiro Watanabe's original anime follows the motley crew of the spaceship Bebop as it travels throughout the solar system in search of the next job. Stoff promised "a real degree of faithfulness," and added, “When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A Scanner Darkly, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”

The anime distributor Bandai Entertainment and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block released the original 1998 television series in the United States, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment released the subsequent 2001 animated movie. The anime was also adapted into two separate manga series, and Tokyopop released both manga series in North America. A Bandai Entertainment representative was unable to publicly comment on this report.

Im going to destroy the studio. There is no way, IN HELL, that they should be allowed to make another CRAPPY live action of an anime that will RUIN the anime's good name. AND BEBOP! Dont get me started, there is NO way they'll ever be able to come close to the perfection of the series.

I swear to god, if this movie happens, there is going to be a riot, and limbs are going to be flying everywhere. Guaranteed that this film will ruin the series.

It's gonna suck like a **** on a wang.

You never know. There's a chance it could be good, or at least decent, maybe. At the very least we'll have an excuse to light our torches and sharpen our pitchforks.

If they don't get the voices right people will complain.
If they don't get actors that fit the role, and look like the characters people will start pulling out torches and pitchforks.
If they miss a detail that is important to the story, Fox studios and all of its executives will feel the wrath of anime fans come down on them like a wave of molten metal pouring down on them with the force of a cat5 hurricane!

If they do even the slightest thing wrong and cast people that don't fit the characters, they are going to fell the wrath of theenigma and thats not a good thing to feel.

Sir, the best anime is FLCL. Bebop is second best. If they ever touch FLCL, i wont just be joking, I WILL kill them.

You just came up with the WORST person to play Spike... EVER! FOR GOD SAKES! Id rather see Morgan Freeman play Spike than "Neo"!

Spike is all about charisma, and Keauno has none. Beyond that, who would play Faye, Jet, Julia, and my favorite RADICAL EDWARD, and who the hell can play Vicious!? The person who plays Julia would have to be beautiful and classy. Faye would have to be wild, young, and slutty. Jet has to be old, wise, and have a deep voice. There's nobody in the world who could pull off ED. And Vicious is nearly impossible to copy.
They have a short list of actors that they could use for only a few characters, and they would still screw themselves royally just trying to pay for them. This movie aint happening.

And besides, it's FOX. The only movie they ever really made was like...the Simpsons Movie. Or atleast the only memorable one.

This Cowboy Bebop movie will go the way of the Live Action Evangelion movie.
