since geoneon went out of buisness who pick up the rights to keep on producing their dvds?

Whichever companies want them, I suppose.
It's not like they just all get passed on to a different company. It's more like a free-for-all. At least that's how I understand it.

yeah they went out of business in the fall of 2007. and they stopped producing all of their dvds. i am sad too. i am trying to find out why they went out of business, but i cant find anything.

Were they the company that did Samurai 7 and Basilisk?

If so, I like them.

Those were done by Funimation.

What did Geneon do then? I swear when I watched them here they had a logo of a company called Geneon at the end.

Unless it is different for Canada... which I highly doubt!

there goes alot of our childhoods, but i am trying to find out why. they seemed like such a solid company.

yeah, i checked around but i couldnt find out why either... anybody know why? or anybody care to hazard a guess as to why?

i am guessing bankruptcy? but i knew tons of people that always bought their dvds so i dont know if that it is. perhaps their expenses out weighted their profits.

I'm sure you've heard at least of one Geneon title. They released such titles as:

Serial Experiments Lain
Texhnolyze
Trigun
Hellsing
Ergo Proxy
Mahoromatic
Ichigo Marshimaro
Paranoia Agent
R.O.D. the tv
Hellsing Ultimate
Higurashi no naku koro ni (When they Cry)
Rozen Maiden

...and many more.

They also did Samurai Champloo, I believe. So no, not just shoujo.

A lot of talk has already been generated around this issue. There have been some good discussions on Anime News Network before. (If I ever find the specific link to one of these, I'll be sure post it.)

Basically, the issue is that Geneon got too crazy with licensing anime titles. For all the money they were spending on acquiring these anime licenses, they weren't getting that money back in sales.

I've seen the ones in bold and maybe that was what I am thinking of (directed at Anime Monkey). They had a line-up of Samurai Champloo, Samurai 7, Basilisk and Trinity Blood on a channel in Canada. I must have confused which animes were developed by which company.

Funimation has picked up most of Geneon's licenses . They are currently releasing several of them

Fails for not releasing Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha yet . I want my Nanoha DVD's dammit.

I heard that hellsing Ova 4 is already dubbed and Funimation is going to release it eventually...
