Death Note dub

Every otaku who watches anime in subtitled Japanese knows disappointment, since no English dub can satisfy everyone. Well, after seeing the first episode of the Death Note dub on [adult swim], I have to say I am pleasantly surprised. Now, we've only heard two major voices so far (three if you count Sachiko Yagami, Light's mother), but if the rest of the cast proves as successful as Light and Ryuk, I can't complain one bit.
I'll allow voters in the poll to change their minds as more voices are added to the mix. So what did you all think?

How could you not know that the most awesome Deathnote would be replacing BLEACH on Saturday? The spammed commericals like crazy.Best thing [AS] ever done.
And the voicing is fantastic.I thought that we'd get a "Naruto",but me thought wrong. But if they botch up L,Misa,Mikami,Near and Mello, heads will roll.

I agree on the voices, and how did I not know? because its simple .. I don't have my TV running 24/7 anymore... my TV is like a Xbox360.. it gets hot after awhile... that and the fact that I don't have cable in my room yet is the main reason X'D
oh well I'm glad they put Death Note on X'D Because now I'm already a fan of it... the main character does exactly what I would have done with that Death Note.. instead of kill people who don't deserve it, I rather Kill people who do .. like what he did.... Kill the Highly known ones Fast with a heart attack while the lesser known ones die slowly so people can see that theres a price for being a bad guy. But the diffrence is that I wouldn't want to be known as the person who is doing it.. I rather be like Bat man and Bruce.

I think you're mixing that up with the PS3, since it almost melted a hole in my friends floor. >>
Anyways, the dub.. Hmm. Light's voice isn't ..right. Maybe not arrogant enough? Ryuk? Just no. They didn't even try. I'm not saying it's a bad voice, but it doesn't match Ryuk at all.

thats because you and your friend let it run too long... your fault .. not the PS3
Name a VA (English) that will suit him then...

No and no.
PS3 was on for about an hour or 2, and I don't know any. I'm just saying his voice doesn't match the way Ryuk would sound, it's a bit to sterotypical sinister voice.
Light hasn't really had an arrogant moment yet, so I guess I'll see about that.

Normally I couldn't care less about dubs vs. subs, so long as if in English the voice suits the character and the sub is an accurate translation.
But um
Death Note English voice actors were completely terrible, sorry. I say this as a fan of the manga over the anime anyways (and I did see several episodes of the Japanese).
Raito's voice just seems so whiney and angry-teenager like while simultaneously seeming oblivious. I heard Raito's voice in my head as much more intelligent and mature-sounding, a bit deeper, and less...ecstatic/angry. Yes, there are scenes in the manga when he gets happy about how he's going to be God of the New World, and where he gets angry because of various things being ruined, but...um. For example, when he's rambling on about all the riffraff in the world, I didn't see him getting as pissed off as annoyed and vexed, and talking with a more sarcastic tone as opposed to "RAWR I AM EMULATING LINKIN PARK."
My vocal chords are ruined from years of strep throat and I could voice him better.
I shudder to think of how his voice actor will represent when he starts descending into insanity. Argh. Since Raito...really isn't the sort of screaming typical nut when he starts being that nastily corrupted. He's more of a serious, calculated, intelligent type. Research different types of serial killers if you don't know what I'm talking about.
don't even get me started on Ryuk. Ew. Just ew. Deeper plzkthx?
this is one unhappy Death Note fan 8D
oh wow if they mess up L or Near I will explode.
Mello's probably going to sound like a PMSing woman, so no use getting upset over that.

Well you and the other DIssapointed fans can go cut your selfs if ya have to cry about it so much ... Just don't watch it! .. You watched it too much In Japanese to even like any voice acter who would be put to the task.
Simple salution.. Just.. don't.. *****... watch.. it
I'm tired of Fans of the animes ranting and complaining about it when they have a choice to watch it or not.
Theres only one Dubbed anime that gets on my nervs is Girls Bravo ... But I still watched it in English talerating the dissapointing Voice acters.

Well, I heard L in a preview, and he sounded dead on.
Only thing I didn't like about Light (Besides the lack of a hint of arrogance/emoness you described) was the way he said "and I will become the god of the new world." totally screwed that up =s

LOL
I only watched like three episodes of the Japanese before going "whatever, I'll wait for the dub."
I'm not comparing the Japanese and English voice actors, considering I don't speak Japanese and therefore couldn't care less about Japanese voice actors. I'm commenting about how the voices don't match the characters one bit, something that ALWAYS upsets me as characters and plotline > all else.
I'm watching it because I like Death Note, genius. The animation's still great, and I know I'll probably become used to Raito and Ryuk over time. I want the plotline. I want the ending, which has more of what Ohba wanted included than could be put in the manga.
Oh sorry, I see ideas that differ from yours aren't allowed to exist in the world, especially if they're critical in nature! I'll just sugarcoat everything I say because I wouldn't want anyone to get offended by words that weren't directed at them :C
If I can tolerate the voice actors you can tolerate what other people say kthx.

I agree, they could have done much better with him. Light's voice is alright, but they could've done alot better with him as well. Sad about Bleach, guess I'll just have to keep watching them in Jap.

sad thing about that .. one of the best Sub sights who were doing Bleach dropped it for some stupid comedy anime.

I liked it alot, but if I had to pick a VA for the main character i would use Eddie Frierson, if you see the job he did on NOEIN you'll know why i pick him.

Eh, if you all like bleach so much move to Canada. They still show it.
Personally I think it's exactly like Naruto with a slightly better plot and less annoying characters, but really is just way to long.
On another note, they nailed the kid going "WHERE THE !@)#(@# IN MAH MOOOM!?!?! USELESS BETCH." perfectly imho.

I'm really happy about [as]'s treatment with Death Note. The first episode was really good, and I love how gnarly they hyped it up. Light's voice suits him, I think. He hasn't had a truly arrogant moment yet, so we'll just have to wait and see but I have faith ^_^ Ryuk was alright, I mean... he didn't sound ebil or anything like that, but I'm sure he'll grow into his role and show the more "Mwahaha" side of Ryuk.
I'm just sad they cut Bleach. I wish they would take off Futurama, I love it to death but I get weary of it after seeing every episode 30 times T_T

I don't care that it's long, because it's so far been interesting the whole way through (-anime fillers ;D). The new chapter has pumped me up sooooo much!
RUKIA'S ALIVE!!!!!
