I saw some of the newer episodes and there really copying .hack alot. It's about kids that go into a virtual world to fight a data anamoly. they also include most of the classes,
William= edge punisher
Yumi= macarame dancer
that samuri dude= twin blade, his bike looks like a steam bike

Actualy it's nothing like .hack. The only thing they share is the virtual world thing. Code Lyoko is about a evil super computer obsessed with world domination... Dothack on the other hand changes varying on which dothack it is.
That Samuari dude is Ulrich and he would most likey be a Blade Brandier, not a twin blade :\

It's kind've unfair to say that they're ripping off .hack, since the idea of a virtual reality and malicious artificial intelligence has existed for like fifty years.
As for copying the classes, come on. What else are they going to use besides swords and motorcycles and ****?
If nothing else, Code Lyoko involves more danger than a handful of coma victims. If people aren't saved, they'll f*cking die, and they usually prevent this with a TIME MACHINE!
Also, I don't see any .hack characters physically vanishing from the real world to visit Za Warudo.

Most animes will go ahead and use an idea other animes have used. They just use a different view and story. You could claim that Protector Yui was copying .hack...rather vaguely.
However, the original is covered by all the other animes that were influenced by it long ago. Code Lyoko has it's own take on virtual worlds and real world influences. I'm not a fan, but hey, I'm sure people are fans out there.

When did Project G.U. start? If past September 2003, then Code Lyoko is older than it. >_>
And even so, not much was revealed of G.U. until 2005. And even so, I doubt the French creators knew much about .hack...
Your thoughts fail. So shut up. It didn't copy it.

In my head at least.

I'd just like to point out, regardless of how you feel about the show, Lyoko is better than the Legend of the Twilight anime. So it's technically not worse than ALL of .hack.
Personally I like Lyoko. In fact I didn't know it was possible to be so passionately hateful of the show.

Now I love you even more XD
Anyhow I agree. Legend of the Twilight was crap, it was like a cross between Inuyasha and a bad fanfic of what happened during the time skip between IMOQ and GU. It also suffered from a massive case of Inuyasha Syndrome XP

and it wen't on and on just like that. The only plus side to that anime was Ouka and the only reason I liked her was because she wasn't flat chested :p Mireille and Hotaru are acceptable because they were loli and I happen to like loli.

I actually never even thought to compare the two before I saw this topic. AT already made the point about people actually dying and the time machine, so I mean, come on! When the only way to stop an AI is by going back in time AFTER you knock it out, that's a pretty cool concept. That's actually one of the things I really like about the show, everything isn't instantly fixed just because the good guys win, everyone is still screwed if Jeremy doesn't work his techno-magic. I really liked the virtualizing and devirtualizing ideas too, and I know I'd rather be in a coma then have my physical body disappear until a genius with a super-computer figures out how to use my digital code to make me a new body and put me in it. The only problem I have with Code Lyoko is when they try to work relationships into the episodes.. those characters really suck at understand eachother romatically. Other then that, it's a great show and I try to never miss it during the week

lol, naruto abridged.....eh, I heard it there anyway....
code lioko sucks in comparation of .hack//
remember, just because they're around the exact same genre doesn't mean you can compare something that shouldn't be compared at all, comprende?
personally, I didn't like it.
maybe it's cause watch TV so little or something, but it was kinda out there.
Though the idea interested me, it was new, but at the same time kinda exaggerated...
at least, it was a bit more depth..y and mature for a Zoom timespot (a kiddies time spot right after drgonatales....WTC?)
?_>

But the point GoZero was trying to make only involved GU. The Steam Bike and Dance Macabre didnt come out until GU, which came out
after Lyoko. I'm suprized I actually replied to this.

I've seen a few episodes of it and I didn't care for it. Aside from disliking the story and style, the voices just didn't match the characters at all and it annoyed the hell out of me.

Psssss...Code Lyoko's actually a French show, which explains why the voices are off at times. I only watched it just to try getting culture points in French class. But I will admit it's actually a pretty interesting show...But I don't really see it as a knockoff of .hack.
