Are you trying to go to a special area?

If it's that and you started at part 4, you might not have the chance to get it. You should start at volume one if you want those areas.

Daichi: Actually, storyline-tied cores are cores M through R, and W through Z.

Virus Core S does not exist at all, even though the Gate Hacking screen has a space for it.

Virus Cores T through V are each obtained automatically as a bonus for completing one of the first three games - T from Infection, U from Mutation, and V from Outbreak. They have no real story function; they simply make it so you have to have played the appropriate game to get access to its bonus area.

Virus Cores U and V are Data Drained from Magus and Gorre respectively, so they cannot be missed. If you played Infection, haven't done that bonus area, and are missing your Virus Core T, check your email - it's attached to one you got after beating Skeith (Skeith himself gives a mundane F virus core).

There is no way to get a T, U, or V core other than completing the associated game, however.
