i'm very torn on this serise.

Pros:

the combat system is very uniqe. i mean four characters with live movement and action and some super attacks thrown in. the only other ones that have multiple people and full movement battles is star ocean and kingdom hearts.

some of the ultimate attacks are very cool looking.

the music is O.K. it could be better but at least it's not as bad as almost every other game nowadays.

costume designs is a pretty cool feture

Cons:

I CAN'T STAND THE CHARACTERS. THERE AROGANT, BOSSY, ANOYING, AND MOST OF THE TIME I AM ROOTING FOR THE BADGUY TO WIN. XD

the boss battles are completly uninspiered. this is one of the reasons i started my boss battle topic and it is also a reason i have a hard time with alot of RPGs knowadays. all the bosses have the same style. the use certian attacks that are just copyed from a list for all the monsters, they chase after you with physical attacks, MABYE they might have one attack that is actually unique. there is just know drive with these bosses, it gets incredibly repetitive after a wile. I want to see something that will put a WTF look on my face followed by a "that was Awsome" look. the tales of games can never give that.

-------------------------------------------

so I do perfectly understand why people like this serise so much but it's just not for me.

Good, let your anger build. give into the darkside. we have cookie's.

I reckon that everything in the game's compliment's each other with it's simplicity and yet incredibly effective design. The characteristic's of the main party is somewhat cliche', I won't denie; however given what the stories entail, it's kinda hard not to go with obvious cliche's in some cases. Even though the character's might be to "full of themselves" one cannot overlook the vast ammount of other media which has similar trait's. For example, Balmung of dothack has a nobility complex as large as anyone else in the world, yet I am the only one who wishes to point it out; however krato's does have a slightly similar stance, with the obvious change being the fact that he does everything in order to set the team up with no qualm's about morality and justice.

The easy on the eye graphic's act nicely in place of what might of ended up as a botchy computer graphic image job which could of ended up realy taking away from the charm of the game. The simple format in which you do thing's in the game's make's it an easy to play game with still enough of a challenge to keep you there for the full 80+ hours.

To be honest, my first Tales game was Tales of the Abyss and it was great! Although the change in Luke was... well... I don't know, it was weird. :D

If they were human, I'd want to have their babies.
Well... 'cept fo Tales of Rebirth... ick... And Legendia is borderline...

I'm getting my PS2 chipped mostly for Abyss, but also for G.U. :P

I love the Tales games, so far I've played Abyss, Legendia, & Symphonia. I plan on getting a PSP to play Tales of the World and maybe buying some others like Rebirth and Destiny...

I haven't heard many good things about Tempest. Actually, most of the people I've run into think it's a mediocre game with poor execution. But that being said, what exactly is "old" about Tempest?
I don't know kind of playsation looking....
