Apart from a member of this board,it's a book.
Not many details are released,as far as I know, unless it's real(doubt it,but I wouldn't put it past anyoneon the .hack project)

This made me giggle.
Well, there's some conflicting information that I've seen. The sub calls his novel "Annwyn" and yet I also remember it being called "Annwn" somewhere else.
According to Umbra, "Annwn" is the word for the land of departed souls in Welsh mythology, so it makes sense if it's really supposed to be Annwn.
But since the sub I watched called it Annwyn, I usually do too. (Especially since Annwyn looks WAY pretty.)
The way I look at it, either the show's creators made a mistake with the word and named his book "Annwyn," or the mistake was in the people doing the subtitles...
Then again, it could be meant to be Annwyn, and its relation to the Annwn in Welsh mythology is just whence it's derived or to which it's alluding.
If it's really about the otherworld, then I guess it would be safe to say that it compiles mythological tales or is a novel that has to do with finding the afterlife. I remember reading somewhere that they believed that a living person could enter [the?] Annwn by finding "doors" in the universe. And didn't Ginkan say he read it in high school?

Yeah, that's right.
And Crim said it's his one of his favourite books if I'm not mistaken.
Hehe.

And if my memory serves, it is also the answer to a riddle in the question event as well. Bear was the one that answered.

Eh?
I don't think so. Let me recall my memories of the riddle...
First question: The birthstone (February) - answer: amethyst
Second question: What is 331 * 3 in a world without heaven and earth? - answer: egg (tamago), you have to look 993 from the other side so you'll get EGG.
Third question: Who is the director of The Apartment? - answer: Billy Wilder (hey, it's true, go look Wikipedia for The Apartment and you'll find out that the film is really existed)
There isn't Bear's novel.
@Rei: You did it again, huh? Posting a comment about how useful the information is.

I've read somewhere that it's Annwn, and the subbers made a mistake and put it as Annwyn.

From the opening of the Wikipedia article on
Annwn:
"
Annwn or
Annwfn ( Middle Welsh
Annwvn, sometimes inaccurately written
Annwyn,
Annwyfn or
Annwfyn) was the Otherworld, the land of souls that had departed this world in Welsh mythology."

Let the person belonging to the culture from which 'Annwyn' is taken speak...
Annwyn is incorrectly spelt and pronounced; the correct spelling being 'Annwn', pronounced 'anoon'. However, it's not a mistake made by the subbers, but by the Japanese production team, clearly they picked the name and transliterated it incorrectly, resulting in a romanisation as 'Annwyn'.

Well, I was talking from a .hack standpoint, not the cultural one. I thought the person meant that it was "Annwn" in the actual series.
