Me and Azer Moon are starting the project that you can find at the link in my sig, called .hack//Here's your SIGN,so I had a request.
I'm looking for a movie maker System that can work ith most file types, has a good set of funtions,and...well....just anything better than windows movie maker.
Can anyone recommend anything to me?
...and on another note,I added a pole for the thing the sig links to...I'll remove it if I have to,but I may as well, seeing as how this is for it anyway.
EDIT)please note that I'm essentially poor in my spare time, because most of my money is held up in other things,so try to stick to free services rather than pay-for products.

huh..all the opinions are biased in ,y favor...I could have swore that I put another option....I'll do that now.
seems I can't change the poll......ok,think of the second one as the negative one then,I wouldn't want to coppupt opinions just to make me feel good inside.

I'd recomend Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe After Effects as well... that is, if you've got about 700 dollars just burning a hole in your pocket XD
Really, nothing compares to those two.
You can also try Sony Vegas, which I used and was rather pleased with for a while.
iMovie is actually quite good too, but you need to own a MAC.
Anything thats better then WMM you're going to have to pay for.. I know I saved up for quite some time just to purchase the normal version of Adobe Premiere.

Adobe Premier Pro... never heard of it. I should use that then.
Sounds much better than Windows Movie Maker. XDD That's the only other free one I can think of.
I use Pinnacle and Roxio... but that's not free. ^^;

There are student discounts for this sort of software. For college students at least...

Yeah, because illegally downloading the Adobe program would be wrong. Even for a person who can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars for a software editing app and wouldn't be buying it anyway. It doesn't add up to free promtion for Adobe or anything. Only rich people should be able to have it. Just stick to your moviemaker and other freeware crap with their limited compatible file types and crappy editing tools.

yeah adobe premiere pro ftw, but thats if you just want to edit a video of course
without too many amazing commercial effects or subs etc
for encoding, virtual dub wins
although it will take you some days playing around with them to start to be able to use them (considering adobe premiere is commerical standard and for a good reason

, not complete crap like windows movie maker lol)

Also, if you just want a program for sound editing, you can't go wrong with Audacity. It's free to download and an absolutely great program for mixing and editing sound clips, it's as close to Garage Band as you can get for free.

to tell the truth,
IMO
I think you should start with
windows movie maker
yeah, I tried premier....it sucked.....
i've done all my vids with maker.
since I started using it, it's never failed in making good vids
(though, I've encountered a problem: It keeps shutting of by itself
anyone got suggestions?)
>_>

Sony Vegas, I have it, and it's probably the best comparing to Adobe Premier Pro in my opinion. (Since I've used both of them in my movie class), mainly because APP is good and all, it does a lot of modifications, but it has nothing like Sony Vegas has.
Sony Vegas is probably something further detailed movie making options, but it's easy to make and also it's very simple too. Just because it's simple doesn't mean it's showing "Amateur". It's just taht Vegas shows more detailed tutoring and help if you don't understand at the first time when APP doesnt.
Vegas can also do more multiple choices of sound modification, almost people I know who does Fan Voice Acting prefers Sony Vegas over APP as well, and professional movie makers also prefer using Vegas.

premiere sucks? not sure why commercial film making companies use it over windows movie maker then.
windows movie marker is far easier to use, but if you compare what each program can create, windows movie maker fails very early on.
my first video i made was with premiere (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvhCQhqlutc). it took about 4 days to learn what i was doing and to finish it, but after that, i was pretty pleased and even though it was crap, i'm still pretty sure i'd have a hell of a time to get the same outcome in windows movie maker, if its even possible. the reason windows movie maker is much easier to use, is because its extremely limiting, so you dont have no know how to do much, considering you cant do much :/
i can pick up on what videos are made in windows movie maker in seconds, just because its obvious where restrictions of making the video are, because it can't do very much at all.
its like comparing paint to photoshop or something lol
