PS2 swapmagic error

I know some people on this forum use some form of mod to play imported games. I'm currently having a problem where I put in my SwapMagic boot disk, and it doesn't load. It says either "Cannot Read Disc" or "Please Insert a PS2 format disk." when it tries to load.
If anyone can help me with this, I woud be very grateful. It would be a shame not to be able to play the imported game I got.

Sorry for the double post, but I fixed that problem and find myself having another.
Now whenever I hit "load program" in the disk menu it just takes me back to the PS2 browser.

Swap Magic is a disc that allows you to play imports, homebrew, and back-ups on your PS2 without a mod-chip. My Swap Magic is Ver. 3.3 and it works fine with all the newest games.
@ Requiem - Are you using the Flip-top or the slide tool?

Hmmmmmmmm I had a problem of those too... I couldn't read any game on my old PS2. I later found out that the lens was... obliterated. Assuming you haven't destroyed your lens by accidentaly smashing it like I did, it's probably just dust on your lens. DVD laser lens cleaners should do.
Do not use cleaning liquid on your lens, or it'll burn.

Unless you play online, you're better off just getting a big PS2 compatible hard-drive. You'll pay a little bit more, but it's more convenient than the swap method and even the regular method.

I was trying to do the tape and tissue mod, but it looks like you can't do it with your FAT ps2... I didn't find that out until I took it apart -.-' What would my best bet be for soft modding my ps2 than? Fliptop + SM3.6, Slider +3.6 something else?
Thanks for the help!

That's what I meant. The only drawback is that you can't play online off the hard-drive.

Tape and Tissue? Are you working with the New or Old model PS2? By Fat you mean t he old model as opposed to the Filing system, right. If you don't play online I would suggest getting a PS2 compatable hard-drive and usind a Memory card exploit to boot the games. If you need to play your "Back-ups" online, I would use the swap magic with flip-top case. It's annoying to have to use 2 discs every time you want to play a game. Having to use the the slide-tool makes it even more annoying.
Keep in mind. Games (backups) that you want to play online need to be patched with a new DNAS code to work.
