Are better the actual actors or the past ones?

I'd say past. I prefer Harrison Ford and Sean Connery get into the action again for Indiana Jones during their young ages.

actors like Rock Hudson, John Wayne, Clark Gable, Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Peter o' Toole (still living), etc. who had such tremendous acting ability will never be seen in Hollywood again IMHO, but that is mainly due to the fact that audiences nowadays want different movies, and if the quality of acting suffers because of it-- well movie goers don't really seem to care.

Many of my favorite actors come from an earlier time.
That isn't to say that the actors making movies now aren't worth anything; they are. I just prefer earlier actors better.

I disagree. I think there's still a ton of quality actors in Hollywood; it's just the mainstream films that are stagnant, kind of like you said. Look for the less-recognized films for the best quality of both the movie and its actors. I've always been more of a fan of "niche" things. The quality of acting is still there; you just might have to look harder for it.

I don't care. They all fall in comparison with Tom cruise.

What do you mean, "actual?" I'm positive that old classics like Sydney Greenstreet and Desi Arnaz were just as real as actors who are popular today.

True enough, I apologize if I sounded like ALL modern actors are talentless-- because that is obviously not the point. I just hate how actors like, oh, Owen Wilson seem to be in every other movie almost, whereas Edward Norton comes out with movies every once and a while (though he appeared in 2 films this year, so perhaps that is a bad example).
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE movies-- but far too many of them have hackneyed plots at this point, and unfortunately they seem to have bad acting along with them...
