*say's again in darkside like voice*the dark side is strong with this threadIt is a nightmare when songs like "The Real Slim Shady" and other craptacular songs get away with being shitty. Please, make these songs suffer a slow and agonizing death
most of the good stuff come's from japan. j-rock as i think it's called is like a mix between techno(good techno) and rock (good rock).
i mean sure you can't understand a bloody word there saying but it kick's so much ass!

Evanescence is alright, if you listen to the lyrics it's like, (not a quote, just kind of a rough assessment) "slit my wrists and suffer and die" so it's sorta depressing, but the classical singing style/occasional strings plus the electric guitars and whatnot is an interesting blend, kinda like Disney and Square when they made Kingdom Hearts, but the really REALLY weird, gothic bands like Slipknot and Marilyn Manson creep me out a little, they make cool songs and all, but I wouldn't hang their pic up in my room. and again, Techno is teh sweetness!! glowsticks and strobes be my realm!

Are you serious about that? Geez... America has gone down the toilet. Why are they using something that reminds me of what Germans hypnotized people watching televison to do things and not realize it.Haseo:terrorofdeath wrote:Techno is okay. I heard from a friend that if you listen to Aladdin with the volume maxed out, you will hear creepy lines in the lyrics to the music like it saying "take off your clothes"I think that this is probably true since the original Little Mermaid movie box had penises on it. It was aimed at the parents and a disney animator admitted to it and was fired for it. There were also things like that in The Lion King and I am kind of getting off topic so yeah, there is a lot of slease in american music. That is why I like it when there are no lyrics in the music, then you can hear it when something like that comes at you.

...
You've been spending too much time on teh intraweb. The original Little Mermaid box art contained a, meaning one, not several, castle spire that was in the shape of a phallus. Because people like to exaggerate and make up fabricated stories, the garbage about the Disney employee being fired came about. What actually occurred:
"...The artist who drew the cover art was commissioned for the job and he was not an actual Disney employee. In his rush to complete the cover art, the artist hastily drew the background detail in the wee hours of the morning. It wasn't until someone called him for questioning that the artist even noticed the phallic image." -Animated Buzz
And regarding the unsolved Aladdin case: the "subliminal message" wasn't in the lyrics of a song; it occurs during a scene on Jasmine's balcony. Read this, if you're interested.
American music isn't sleazy; people just tend to blow rumors way out of proportion, causing false claims. Don't believe everything you hear, kids.

I don't like much American music, but what really gets me is that someone thought it'd be a good idea to take already crappy songs and let kids with crappy voices sing them. What do they call this monstrosity? Kids Bop! The songs they choose for these compilations are nowhere near kid-friendly, and yet moms buy this crap for their kids all the time. I bet if they kept the original artists singing the songs, mothers would classify it as a "bad influence" and leave it alone. But when anything is sung by 10-year olds, it's automatically okay for children.
