In many ways this evades the whole "dishonoring" thing by not having the first series continue to lurch around as a hollow headless zombie animated only by by the greed of money-hungry producers. Now it's a new series, with new creators, and can either earn you respect or die on its own merits.
On the other hate I really hate Tomonobu Itagaki both as a public figure and as a game designer, so I'm glad DOA continues to be milked for all it's worth as one of those aforementioned zombies...
Let me ask you kuukai, what if they rebooted .hack with a more western flare, would you still play it? I can imagine that they all might have goofy western names like smith or mary or david, or jack or etc.

When I feel like I'm playing a completely different game and it just doesn't feel right to me.
Take for example FF8. I reach Ultimecia's Castle... awesome dungeon but very out of place compared to the rest of the world, and no I'm not attributing the fact we're dealing with this time compression nonsense.
No, my issue is that the way the entire dungeon is set up that I'm playing Castlevania (at least the Metroidvania ones) if it was a turn based RPG. Killing off several big bads in different parts of the castle, climbing up the clock tower and running to the seperate tower to take on DraculaIMEANUltimecia herself (only without the awesome stair climb right before hand).
Now again I liked the dungeon but it just felt odd to me that I'm playing as Quistis Trepe Belmont and her gang of vampireIMEANWITCHNOSorceress hunters.

I hate it when games focus WAY too much in multiplayer.(Attention COD!)

They're like a dark hallway with no side-routes, no rooms at the end of said hallway, with no real reward given to you upon said game's completion.
Sure you can dress up the game with personality and flare, but that doesn't hide the fact that it's still a one-way ticket to nowhere;
Yes most JRPGs, I'm looking at you.
quoting myself on this here. Wetserners do EXACTLY THE SAME THING with multiplayer centralised games; Unless there's some form of extreme customisability, in my eyes it's not even worth binning.

Remakes. Now I don't mind the occasional revision every now and then, some games can be made twice and a little more spending on what they offer. But even still I can't stand having to shift through a library just to find out the latest information. It's harder on the customers who don't know where to start, and harsh on any one who played the original and thought ah so I finally understand. Another issue comes with the content they take out. I know there aren't many out there but IMO two is the limit...

Camera angles clipping through objects.
Grinding or power leveling that is required to kill a boss.
Being deleveled by a boss.
Getting one shot by a regular enemy in the game.
Escort missions.

Do I need to talk about Devil Summoner:RKvsSA and its zombies again? No? kthxbai

This has been said before, but I'm guessing NO ONE likes these types of missions. Specially when the person you gotta escort is a suicide retard -_-'

"Ah! Lookout a Zombeh! Save me!"
No duh you dumb **** how about you MOVE away from them instead of moving DIRECTLY in front of them if I try to change an angle!
Ah excuse my language, mad memories from playing RE4
Things I hate in games, Classic games making pointless games with NO MEANING WHATSOEVER!
Yeah I'm looking at you Sonic The Hedgehog Unleashed, Sonic Riders, vs the Black Knight WTF!?!?!?!?
At least Heroes was kick-ass
And sports games made with something that isn't even popular and is pointless beyond belief.
Whirl Tour. Follow two dwarf witches back in time riding a motor scooter you somehow found at a rock concert...
Worst childhood game experience ever.

I actually liked Sonic Riders, minus a few things that could have been edited out. One being a story to it all. :/ And Jet's VA is just....Ugh. :/
Which brings me to my next thing. I HATE games with bad VA's.

Oh Lawd don't get me started on bad VA's
Or when they Recycle the VA's voice over and over again making it less appealing and just so annoying you look at the volume button and pray there's something lower than mute.
When they don't take the effort to make characters original and recycle their designs over and over again.
Every Bleach DS Game released in america.

I'm sure this has been mentioned in the topic already (I'm just too lazy to bother to check), but I'm increasingly starting to hate random encounters in video games, RPGs specifically. Being able to actually see the enemy is so much better.

I hate it when they give games a high rating despite the fact that it appeals to a small insignificant number of gamers.

You tell me. I'm replaying Tales of Destiny and I get 1 encounter for each 5-10 steps or so WHILE USING CLOAK/HOLY BOTTLE >_<
Also, SMT games usually have a LOT of random encounters *points at Devil Summoner:RKvsSA*, but you usually can use Estoma or something like that to reduce encounter rate. That Pisaca you can buy on the 1st Kalpa in Nocturne is really useful with his Watchfull+Estoma, since Estoma only works with demons at lower Lv than the user xP

Me too, but I also hate when they give bad rates to good games. I once saw a magazine give a 3,5 to Digital Devil Saga. Then I said "F that" and never trusted a review again.
I find it funny how some years ago I saw a magazine do the review of Mutation and give it a 8,5 while saying the "continue the story of the 1st game" is a pretty good thing and then some years later that same magazine made the review of Reminisce and gave it a 2,5 saying that the same "continue the story of the 1st game" is an awfully bad thing.

I never trust reviews since that it said vanquish was a "great" game while over here in my country gamers are barely buying it due it being a region 3 game.

For the sake of not starting another 'opinions war', I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that/ see that...

I stopped trusting reviewers when Monster Hunter made me see how moronic they are.
Monster Hunter (PS2): Perfect 10
MHF1 (PSP): 3 out of 10
MH2 (PS2): Didn't come state side.
MHF2 (PSP): 3.5 out of 10
MHFU (PSP): 8.5 out of 10
MHFU is basically and expansion pack to MHF2... Reviewers don't know what a good game is anymore.

You're starting to convince me to take reviews with a grain of salt;
I'm not completely against them, seeing as they give a general overview of the game-however biased it may be-though you do have to realize that the reviews they do are ALL opinion based, therefore very likely to swing in one direction. Video game reviews are like pretty much every other review out there; they give you an overview of the subject in question in a way that backs up the reviewer's personal opinions. Looking past those opinions enables you to actually get a lot out of a review. Imho, a game can only truly be judged when played first hand by the person who wishes to make a judgement about it.
Tl;dr; read the review to learn about the game's features e.t.c.; play the demo/ game itself to decide whether or not you actually like it. Disregard the reviewer's opinions.

What I hate in games is when you die during a boss battle, and you didn't save before like you were supposed to, and the boss says a smug comment right before the 'Game Over' shows up on the screen. That and dying over and over again at the same spot in the game. -______-
That really ticks my butters.
