Re: The next Metal Gear?!
It is not big Boss. Kojima said it by himself(if the translation is right). Here is the link of the Famitsu interview: http://psinsider.e-mpire.com/index.php? ... cleid=1208S1lentOp wrote:It's definitely not a clone of Big Boss. I tried to find where I have seen this information but I couldn't. Maybe it is a rumour or just some sort of mistranslation. Sorry about that.S1lentOp wrote:I'm assuming fepkk was milking the picture I posted, because Kojima never said that and it's obviously not Otacon.TheSorrow wrote:Why does the character have to appear in MGS 1, 2, and 4? It's pretty evident that it's Big Boss. For direct sources, ask fepkk xDHere is something interesting: Kojima said that the old man is not Big Boss and that the person appeared at MGS1, MGS2 and MGS4.
The mask is shattering now. I have no idea who it might be.even better, i'm tired of clones XD

Re: The next Metal Gear?!
He doesn't actually say it's not Big Boss, he just says this "old man" is a different form. This is what Kojima does when he screws with people. He used to go months with calling Big Boss in MGS3 "Snake" just to mess with the people who weren't sure if it was Solid Snake or not. There's nothing about this character that doesn't fit Big Boss. The fact that it's part of the Metal Gear Solid Saga gives even more credence to it being Big Boss and not some ridiculous alternate universe or another clone. They've have to be stupid to try that at this point. With Solidus it was excusable, but now it would just ruin everything. Because it takes place across all time periods, it means that the Big Boss/Raiden game is likely, and chances are will end up falling into the Raiden scenario I sketched earlier. It seems like most people are attributing the differing eye color to the artist being screwy since that seems to be the only thing that keeps him from being Raiden. It's still possible that it could be Gray Fox, but Fox's exoskeleton wasn't like Raiden's. Since this person's exoskeleton looks like Raidens, it may not be Fox.fepkk wrote:It is not big Boss. I'm just going to throw this out here, not because I need to be right (honestly I hope this really is him, I've always like Raiden) but because it's happened before: "Raiden" doesn't necessarily mean "Jack". There, I said it. Hate me now, praise me if it comes true.

I dunno. It could be possible, but then people would hate Kojima for that unexpected plot twist.Kuukai wrote:I'm just going to throw this out here, not because I need to be right (honestly I hope this really is him, I've always like Raiden) but because it's happened before: "Raiden" doesn't necessarily mean "Jack". And on another note, the new PSP interation of the series is called Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. We won't get any real details until the 3rd, during Konami's press confernce.

Yeah, I actually just added that to my post in the Rising thread. (which sounds totally dubious since there's not timestamp but it's true I swear!) It's nice to see the ball back in Sony's court, with the exclusive connectivity the two games will have (we can start decoding the Famitsu article now). I assume this one will star, uhh, "the other character." "Peace Walker" doesn't sound amazingly exciting (sounds like a game about Running Man), but I'm going to stick to my original assumption that there's some kind of strategy element... (Even though it would be really cool if it came with a pedometer and was like Boktai only with walking. Note that running and climbing stairs wouldn't be counted since that isn't walking.)
That sounds like something that's been said a lot...haseoxth wrote:I dunno. It could be possible, but then people would hate Kojima for that unexpected plot twist.

Re: The next Metal Gear?!
It is Big Boss. Kojima's just announced Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Its set ten years after MEtal Gear Solid 3. Some of the trailer footage shows Big Boss in Costa Rica, "a country without a military must become a country without a government." And it seems he's already in control of Outer Haven. And then we have four Big Boss look alikes(clones?) shooting at a Metal Gear like thing.
And thats all the info I got. Seems its being launched along side the PSP Go. Earlier then expected.

Re: The next Metal Gear?!
I wonder how it's compatible with Rising. I guess since Acid 2 was compatible with Subsistence anything is possible...
It would be really neat if we start to see some early versions of Outer Heaven characters, like the bosses and the Resistance... I mean, Kyle Schneider, the Black Ninja, was forced to help build Outer Heaven, so we know he's around, and if you want a badass continuity point that would be it.
EDIT: And now we have Metal Gear Arcade! It's MGO but for arcade machines so it costs a lot more! Yay! Apparently it uses 3d goggles, though, so if you can use you existing account I'm totally interested in trying this...

They're not clones. He's showing off some kind of co-op/multiplayer. He did the same thing with MPO and the various MGS3 characters.haseoxth wrote:And then we have four Big Boss look alikes(clones?) shooting at a Metal Gear like thing.

Re: The next Metal Gear?!
I just hope that the game isnt going to be like devil may cry...
I still love the old metal gear formula..i dont think it should be changed into a hack n slash..and the action that metal gear has is good already no need to change it.
I heard that it is going to stay the same in ways of gameplay..its just the "lightning bolt action" thing next to "Metal Gear Rising" threw me off big time...idk i just hope it doesnt change that much.

Re: The next Metal Gear?!
It's going to change a lot. That's why they're making Peace Walker too. Rising is a spinoff, not a new direction for the whole series. Like Acid or something, but canon.

this will be yet another metal gear game for my pile :U... but I still only have one, small, simple desire for Mr. Kojima to hear out...
