Zer0, I know you're going to hate me for this, but is it possible to set up the item list so it's clearer that it's Item | Effect | Location?

Seriously, I totally missed that the lines included all of that lol ... not your fault obviously, it was my own mistake, but maybe it could be more visually apparent in case there are people like me who just blink over lists?

Example:

Code: Select all

----------+-------------------------+-------------------------
 Item | Effect | Location
----------+-------------------------+-------------------------
          | |

Looks great ^^

Might want to make it a bit smaller, though, like this (not everyone has a large resolution):

Code: Select all

                 | |
                 | |
                 | |
                 | |
There still should be enough room for longer Effect descriptions =)

That's perfect Zer0 =D

And now that i'm up and kicking, i'll get started on a certain walkthrough right away ^^

Edit: So, are you guys planning on both writing up complete FAQs/Walkthroughs with the same information and then just pick one? Have to ask ;)
Not that there's anything wrong with that really. It's fun to have something to do :)
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Oh, alright. It just seemed to me like he's writing an faq in the first post too o.O
Ah well, here's what i've done on the walkthrough so far =o

Code: Select all

For this walkthrough, i will be splitting the game up in "sections", that i will make up names for myself to make it easier to find where you should go.
NOTE: As i like describing stuff, this walkthrough contains a hefty amount of spoilers for almost all the movies and cutscenes. Not EVERYTHING however, just the most important parts. Summaries, if you will.
Also, for the dungeons and fields, you can always go through them completely as you wish, but i'll be saying the exact path you are to take to move further in the story.

1. "Welcome to the World."
2. 8 months later
3. "Gaspard, that's what he's roleplaying."

---------------------------------------------------------

Part 1: "Welcome to the World"

---------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to assume you just clicked New Game and watched the wonderful scene where the main character, Haseo created his character.
So, now to get started then:

Two players come up to Haseo and offer to help him learn the game. This is the tutorial and it can't be skipped.
Here's what they'll want you to do in Mac Anu:

1. Press the Triangle button to open the in-game menu.
2. Go to the Party section of the menu.
3. Invite both IYOTEN and Asta into your party.
4. Go to the Save Shop and talk with the npc (you don't have to save if you don't want to)
5. Approach the Chaos Gate and press the X button.
6. Enter the Warp Menu and then the Area Word section.
7. Enter the keyword: Courageous Engaging Daydream

Now you'll appear in your first area, in this case a series of islands in daylight.
The tutorial continues:

8. Press Select to bring up the area map.
9. You'll be told to find Three Symbol Fragments to finish the area mission.

Time to move out:

10. Run south across the bridge to the next island and you'll get to know about suprise attacks and starting fights with monsters.
11. Run up to the monsters and do a suprise attack.

Basic Fighting Tutorial:

12. Run up to the enemy and hit him with your weapon. Don't worry, they won't fight back for now.
13. Do a Charge Attack on any of the monsters, preferably the one you've already hit before.
14. You're now free to fight as you wish and finish off the monsters. They WILL fight back now, so remember to try and get used to Blocking, which they just told you about.

15. Walk up to the treasure chest and open it for the first Symbol Fragment.
16. Run east to the next island and commence battle with the monsters there.

Skill Tutorial:
17. Press the Skill Trigger button (R1)
18. Use the Skill Gale Blade on any of the monsters. As of currently, you only have one skill, so no matter which of the buttons you click, you'll do Gale Blade.
19. Now you're going to learn Rengeki. Run up to a monster and attack it with regular attacks untill the purple rings appear around it.
20. Press the Skill Trigger button and use Gale Blade on the monster with the purple rings around it.
21. You now get control of the fight again. Finish the monsters off as you like.

Now back to the mission at hand:
22. You know the drill: get the second Symbol Fragment from the chest.
23. Run north to the island with the final Altar.

You're now done with the tutorials. Just finish off the monsters and get the final Symbol Fragment.

Now the door to the Gott Statue is finally open. Just head over there as they say, run down the steps and open the door.
Run up to the chest and open it.
Now you're done with the main tutorial and the game can finally begin:

A long series of scenes will begin playing.
Haseo will find out that the two helpful players were actually after killing him anda mysterious player will come and save him.

---------------------------------------------------------

Part 2: 8 months later

---------------------------------------------------------

First out is an awesome scene where Haseo, now called "The Terror of Death" shows up to show some PKs what fighting is all about. Yes, the IS a Scythe he's waving around with there. No, you won't get to use it, atleast not for now D= And yes, he HAS killed 100 PKers in a 100 vs 1 fight. He's THAT powerful.
Enough of me spoiling stuff. Time for the next movie =D

Next out, Haseo gates into Mac Anu, where he gets stopped by Sakaki of the Moon Tree Guild and gets introduced to awesomeness that is Atoli.
Haseo gets interrupted by a message to go to a certain area. He spots Ovan and runs away.

Now Haseo gates into a beautiful area where he finds Ovan, the person who saved him from the PKs his first day in the game.
A disscussion will ensue between the two players. As you can most likely guess, Haseo and Ovan were part of the Twilight Brigade, but Ovan dissapeared.
He tells Haseo where to find Tri-Edge, the PC Haseo has been searching for these last 6 months.
Haseo runs off.

And finally, Haseo goes to the Hulle Grantz Chatedral.
A short flashback, Tri-edge appears.
Haso gets his behind handed to him, on a silver plate nontheless. Enjoy one of the game's best movie battles.

Now you're out in the Altimit Mine OS.
Go check your mail to find out there's nothing there.
Go back one step and you'll get a mail from Ovan. Read it and then log in to The World again.

Haseo'll notice that his character has been restarted. Level 1 and starter equipment.
He hears two players walk by and mention a player with a "wierd arm", in other words Ovan.
He runs out of the building and you get control over the player again.

Press select and you'll see a blue marker. This shows you where to go.
Now run south to the first marker.

Once there, Haseo'll spot Ovan walking around a corner.
Just run straight ahead and follow the road untill you get to the next marker, down at the harbor.

Once again, Haseo just misses Ovan making another turn down an alley. Run straight ahead to where you saw Ovan in the scene and run north down the path.

A scene will ensue where Haseo sees the PKs he killed in the recent movie talking about getting revenge. Haseo sneaks away.

---------------------------------------------------------

Part 3: "Gaspard, that's what he's roleplaying."

---------------------------------------------------------

Haseo bumps into, or rather gets bumped into by Silabus and Gaspard, members or the newbie support guild Canard who offer to help him.
He tries to tell them he's The Terror of Death, but they won't believe him due to his level. They claim he's roleplaying xD. You gotta love how Haseo ignores Gaspard's talk about member adresses too =D

Ahem, back to playing then:
Turn around 180 degrees and run up to the green chaos gate-like portal. Use it to warp to the Dome.
Now run inside and activate the Chaos Gate. You'll have the area "Peaceful Leading Freedom" in the bookmarks. Use that to get to the dungeon field.
Once there, another short scene shows up with them still not believing Haseo.

Peaceful Leading Freedom B1:

Now run down the path and get closer to the monsters.
Watch the scene and fight them.
Win the fight as you would normally.

Now then, run east to the next room and watch another scene where they try to tell Haseo something he already knows again.
Beat the monsters. Remember to show them your Rengeki skills ;)

Run east again untill you get to the path to the next floor.
What next? You guessed it. Run down to the next floor ;P

Peaceful Leading Freedon B2:

Now run the only path you've got in front of you leading east.
As would be expected, another scene appears. Here they actually tell you something you DIDN'T know. It's more thanks to Haseo being too much of a lone wolf though.

Run up to the enemies and begin the battle.
When they're done talking press the Square button as they ask you to and "pound the monsters like there's no tomorrow" ;)

Now, walk up to the "Steam Switch" on the north wall and try kicking it. As you can see, steam blows out when you kick it. Use this to knock down the things on the carts on the ground.
As the window that pops up explains to you, run up to them and kick them. Do this untill you have atleast 30 chim spheres.

Run south down the corridor and open the door, using 5 of the chim spheres you just gathered.
Run across this room and open the door in the south end.
In the next room, you'll be introduced to trap chests and breakable objects.
Open both of the chests in the room, then head out the east (and only) path.
Head north in this new room to run into a scene where Haseo asks his party about Tri-Edge.
Now run east and open the door. Now you should see the silhouette of the Gott Statue. Just run towards it to trigger a short scene.
Run up and open the chest to trigger a longer scene.

The PKs from before have come back! They finally help Haseo prove that he IS the Terror of Death to Silabus and Gaspard. Will our Heroes loose everything they've done since they entered the dungeon!? Find out next time, same-...oh alright then.
Haseo gets a strange feeling and gets down on his knees, after which the day gets saved.
Enter: The Fanservice!
That's right people, it's not a joke. That IS a character.
Ah well, Pi saves them and goes up to talk to Haseo.
Now it's time for the best conversation in the whole game. Enjoy Haseo calling Pi an old hag and her reaction to it xD
After she's left, you're done in the dungeon. The game with take you out of the dungeon automatically.

Back in Mac Anu, they'll discuss the possibility of Haseo asking Moon Tree to protect him, but he verbally bashes them, only to turn around noticing Atoli's standing only a few meters away.
She starts shouting at Haseo about him not understanding what Moon Tree is all about.
A little lesson later about how they don't lecture people later, Atoli gives you her member adress(YAY =D) and tells Haseo she's going to do everything she can to make him understand what Moon Tree is.

Enter Haseo's psychic abilities!
They usually manifest in him saying the line: "I'll log out and check my email or something", seconds before he actually gets the mail. Freeaakyyyy~
Do as he says and log out.
You likey?
I'll continue in a shortie. Got some school work i've gotta do first.

Wait, the Avatar fight guide doesn't tell you to shoot constantly?

Ok, add that to the beginning of that guide, ok?

ALWAYS shoot, unless you're dashing.
I haven't read through the whole piece, but i thought it was pretty much a "how to dodge what" guide telling you to shoot when not dodging and slash when they're stunned =o
That works perfectly in every avatar fight.
I actually often slash when they are not stunned too, it takes more practice, but, many of them have certain moves(and if you break tarvos's wing sheild, she is instantly stunned) that leave you just enough time to run in and slash before they can respong(including AFG, use Azure tiger claws to your advantage, go up next to him as he prepares them and time your slashes so they hit the claws and him at the same time, even if the enemy is not stunned, it still beats shots, and, the third slash knocks you back, so, you can learn to use it to your advantage, but, that is just my two cents)

Yeah, that's true, but just shooting constantly is easier for most people. Besides, a stunned enemy takes a lot more damage from each slash than normally.

Maybe we could investigate. Someone count how many shots it takes to stun a certain enemy, then shoot just enough so that one more shot (or three more since you shoot three at a time if i'm not completely lost atm) and try slashing. See if the previous shots still count or not.
If they do, then your tactic is clearly superior. If they don't, then relying on the simpler "just shoot" tactic could possibly be more effecient :)

well, I shoot as well, obviously, cause there are times the opening is just long enough to shoot, but not to slash, but, yeah, they are not stunned that much, though to be fair, when tarvos sheilds herself with her wings, if you slash them till they open, when they are forced open, she is in stun, so in that way it sorta benefits you to do so :P

@zer0: Look awesome, great job ^^

@Akunaeru: The walkthrough is coming along nicely, too, very good job. Maybe a basic area FAQ would be beneficial, too. You know, how to rank high when clearing an area, field and dungeon features, etc. Then, you can put an area info section for each story area that's visited that tells area type, mission type, how many battles, breakable objects, chests, etc, are in each area for those who just want to check to make sure they got everything rather than read through the entire step-by-step walkthrough, since it is pretty much the same idea for each area.

@dominus_draconis: Yeah, I do that too, but I structured the guide so that someone who's having a hard time (aka a person who would actually need to read the guide) would have a better time handling the attacks (the play-it-safe method). I'll add that to the basic strategy section though, with a caveat that if they're not careful about doing that, they can set themselves up to take higher damage.

Oh, alright. It just seemed to me like he's writing an faq in the first post too o.O
ah yeah actuallty, i'm just sorting through any info that comes into the topics and putting it on the first post of this topic in order to make it easy to find. I mean after we get about 15 pages or so, it would be really hard for some looking at this topic for the first time, to find the information they need. they'd have to look through all the pages to find what they want. but by sticking all the usefull stuff on the first post it makes it easy to find for people like that.

If I'm not mistaken alot of what you guys are talkign about is a completly seperate guide from what's on the 'first post'. I take it Zer0 is writing his own guide based on alot of the info that is being stated here, and he adventually hopes to put his guide on game FAQS.

So what i'm saying is, since Zer0's updating his that's in the third post contantly, are you just going to leave it like that with two faq/walkthroughs right next to eachothers, both containing the same information (the one from this topic that is)?

Edit: Ok, it seems like this to me:

Zer0 is going around actively asking and searching for information, then compiling and posting it here in his faq/walkthrough in the third post and he's using everything that's posted here to improve it too. And you're taking what he's compiled here and recompiling it? It just doesn't make much sense to me.

Edit2: correction. Third, not second post.

lol, to tell you the honest truth i really didnt know he was doing that. No offence to Zer0 but that wasnt exactly what i had in mind. I though he was compliing his info on his computer so he could up load it to game FAQS later. I didnt think he was prety much doing on his own what I was doing with the first post.

oh well not that it really matters.

Well, just go check the third post ;)
I think someone even mentioned that he had started before this topic came up.

Anyway, should we maybe stick to contributing to Zer0's, since it's currently more complete? You could post his in the first post too.
Besides, it was still you who made this topic. Had i not seen it, i probably would've missed both of the guides ;)

What Terminal disk files can you unlock in Vol. 1?

I have unlocked 6 and 10 and have, as far as I know, a complete game.

Are there any more?
