((OOC: That is what I thought too. But we ought not converse about it. He will tell us when he returns.))

Hunter brought Alice back to their room and sat her down on the couch. It's one thing when I set Alice off, but if anyone tries it again they will have some rude awakenings involving strange creatures.

Alice's crying had slowed down some and she wiped her cheeks clean. Somebody knocked on the door causing the immediate reaction of Hunter snapping into a standing position.

"Someone actually followed us back?!" Hunter stormed over to the door and swung it open. "What?!"

In front of Hunter was a boy with white hair and a dark coat on. "Sorry. I saw the commotion earlier, I just wanted to check if the girl was ok."

"Yeah, I bet. She'll be fine the longer you creeps stay away." Hunter said and slammed the door in the boy's face.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She must have some serious guy issues. Brent thought to himself and ran a hand through his hair. He spun around and walked down the hall. "I suppose, seeing as there are no classes today, I should just continuing playing. But what instrument should I use today?"

Brent passed by a boy walking quite speedily down the hall with sunglasses on.

There are certainly some odd students this year. Brent looked up at his white fringe. "I suppose that is a good thing. Might take some attention away from me." He eventually reached the music room and once again received the greeting of citrus. He breathed deeply. "Now I simply must choose."

But before he could, a boy burst through the door. "Yo! Brent! Have you seen that girl everyone's talking about?"

"..."

"Yeah, she's totally hot. Actually there're a few of them. I have all the info. You want in?"

What I want is to practice.

"Yeah man, I can see it," The boy pointed at Brent, "You totally wanna know. Aight. So there's this short girl, dunno her name for sure just yet, but one of my buddies that's close with the teacher's says it's Alice. She's got the whole short, cute and shy thing goin' on. But, like, she's SUPER short. She looks like a twelve year old," The boy laughed at this comment, but Brent remained silent staring at the kid, "Yeah, a couple girls went up to her after the ceremony s'mornin' and tried to be nice, but it turns out she's gay! Crazy, huh? Yeah, her girlfriend came up and went crazy. But thing is, she's a hottie too. Totally rockin' some crazy outfit and all."

I can't take much more of this. If I weren't representing my family and the head of the music sect I could just tell him to go away.

"And then there's this Kanda girl, meant to be kinda tomb boyish, but I heard she's already with a guy too. But you should totally go for one of 'em man. Girls are, like, always fallin' over you and stuff. Hey, maybe you can toss a couple my way some time."

"I am sure that there are many young ladies," Brent paused to find the right word, "intrigued by you, Joseph. Actually, I am sure if you go and introduce yourself to that girl that was playing the violin next to you at the ceremony you may even be invited on a date."

"Woah! Seriously, dude? Yeah, maybe I should." Joseph stood considering the proposition.

"Having no classes today makes this your perfect opportunity. You had best not waste it."

"Yeah, man. You're so right. Thanks a bunch dude," Joseph ran out the door. "See ya at the next prac," He called from the hall.

((Indeed, for now let's just do some character development. There's no telling how fast the story will move once the ball gets rolling.))
A pink haired girl stepped out of her room in front of Ace and waved. He ignored her and kept walking, but she just fell into step with him. "Pretty slick what you pulled with Patel. I hated that guy." Ace glanced in her direction, but kept walking. "So, where are you off to now?" "To finish what I started." "What, you're going to kill him or something?" "Something." "Cool, mind if I tag along?" he considered for a moment, he wouldn't be doing anything explicitly illegal, and it was doubtful she would really stay with him the whole way. Plus she wasn't one of those girls that had been bothering him, of course she was watching from her room so...at worst she was going to turn into a stalker, like Hunter. "I'm not going to stop you." "Great!"

She was still there when Ace got to his truck. "Wow, can you actually afford to go to this school?" Ace tried to simply ignore the comment, but he did look at his truck, sure it was over a decade old but it still ran perfectly and he had even installed some upgrades. The rest of the trip passed in an awkward silence until he pulled up to Mr. Patel's office. "So, what are we doing at Patel's dad's office?" "Issuing an ultimatum." She arched an eyebrow, "An ultimatum? What do you mean?" "If we leave it as is, Patel will just keep trying. So, we let him know that he needs to keep his nose clean." "You really think you can convince his dad to help you with that? He's let him get away with stuff like this since gradeschool." Ace simply walked inside and handed a business card to the receptionist, "I believe I have an appointment." She looked at the online schedule and sure enough there was one, but she couldn't remember that being there earlier. "Uh, sure, I'll just buzz you in. Mr. Patel, Mr. Hitchcock is here to see you."

The girl looked over at Ace in shock, "Hitchcock? Like the film producer?" "No relation." He said as he walked into the next room, the girl waited outside. "Mr. Hitchcock, a pleasure to meet you. I'm terribly sorry, but could you remind me what this meeting was about, I seem to have forgotten." "That's quite alright, Mr. Patel, we didn't actually have a meeting scheduled for today. However, your son felt it necessary that we meet." "Matthew, is he here with you?" "No, he's at the school still. You should be receiving a video file now showing your son assaulting me in the halls of the school. I would like for your son to cease any future attempts on both myself and others. If he does so again, then I personally guarantee that three months from today your company will go under and your name will be ruined. If that is understood then my business here is concluded." "Wait, you don't actually expect me to be able to keep my son from being himself, do you?" Ace took a piece of paper off Mr. Patel's desk and wrote a list of names on it. "If you find it impossible at this school, then perhaps another would be more proactive to him learning about the way the world works." "But these are all public schools, and in horrible neighborhoods." He said, reviewing the list. "Exactly. Good day Mr. Patel." Mr. Patel gulped and picked up the phone to call his son right away. "Hello, Matthew, drop whatever you're doing and come to my office right now. I said NOW!"

"So, I take it the meeting went well?" Asked the girl as she stood up to leave with Ace. "We reached an agreement." "So, how did that happen?" "My family has recently returned to wealthy status and in three months, via proxy companies as well as legitimate businesses, we could easily own a controlling share of his company and in fact, we will." "Did you know this before going in there?" "I made the arrangements myself." "So, I'm Kim, you are?" "Ace." "Seriously?" "Yes." "You're parents were right, you're like having an Ace up their sleeve. So, Ace, do you like pizza?" "Why?" "I'm hungry."

On their way to the pizza parlor Ace sent a text message to the others.

Code: Select all

Kim, a new friend, and I are going for pizza at a place at 1800 Fleet Street. Anybody want to join us? Just remember to stay low profile. I'm looking at you Hunter.
"So, Ace, what do you do for fun?" He looked down at his hoodie and then back up. "Are you seriously asking a guy who wears a shirt that says, Hack! THE Planet what he does for fun?" "You must have something else that you do for fun." Ace thought a moment, well sure he did do other things aside from break into high security systems and that was starting to seem more and more like work. "Well, I play video games of course." "There we go! See, was that so hard?"

Both if the girl's phones went off with beeps and vibrations simultaneously. Alice sniffed as she dragged her from from the skirt pocket in which it resided where as Hunter merely whipped her's out, free of emotion.

How did he get my number? As stalker's stalker? Hunter thought and read the message at the same time as Alice.

"Yeah, let's go," Hunter smiled at Alice. "Some food and friends could do you well. Ok?"

Alice nodded and put her phone away. They left the room and headed out of the school. It was still warm out, sun still high in the sky with only a few fluffy white clouds decorating its deep azure blue.

"I don't think this place is far, we'll just walk." Hunter said and took Alice's hand. Alice was still a little frazzled from the earlier incident and not fully paying attention to anything. Her eyes still contained a red ring around them, the tears from earlier left temporary lines down her cheeks and she couldn't bring herself to speak just yet. And so, they walked to the diner in silence.

"Well, this place is, uh," Hunter paused to find the right word, "homely?" Alice sniffed, still looking at the ground.

"Oh, come on Alice. I can't tease you while you're this sad. If you had singed those pricks back their no one would have blamed or held it against you. Besides, you didn't. You stayed in control. You should be happy."

"But," Alice's voice was quiet, "I could have killed them all."

"Pssshhhh," Hunter draged out the sh sound to emphasize her lack of care, "Yeah right. You know that wouldn't have happened. I would've heard the sparks flyin' and appeared to save the day like the knight I am." She smiled and poked Alice's cheek.

"Now cheer up already, we're gonna enjoy some pizza with Ace and his new girlfriend. I know you two are close though, so if you get too jealous feel free to move closer to me," Hunter winked at Alice who had finally looked up from her constant sight on the pavement below.

"Jealous?"

Hunter pulled Alice into the diner without hearing her question.

Ace waved to Hunter and Alice as they walked in. Kim looked over and waved too. "You must be Alice which makes you the bombastic Hunter. A pleasure to meet you both. My name's Kim. Ace tells me you're quite the violinist, Alice, I'm a drummer myself."

He hadn't had any text messages pop up on his HUD, but Alice and Hunter were walking in now, so maybe the others would be following suite shortly. Ace merely sat and drank his water while Kim handled introducing herself. Something seemed to be bothering Alice, he briefly considered going over the video files to find out but decided asking would be a better first choice, of course he might check them afterward, but for now he'd just ask. "Hunter, did something happen?" He was genuinely concerned about Alice, but he was also wondering if he needed to either edit a video file or make preparations to move to another new school.

((I would not mind picking this up again.))

Hunter put an arm around Alice and introduced them both to Kim. "No, Alice is okay. She just had a bit of a scare with some upperclassmen," waving her free hand around with closed eyes she continued, "I merely walked over and they were intimidated by my beauty and obvious superiority, so they left."

Alice looked up at Hunter from the crumpled position she had under Hunter's arm. She never used to care so much. Why now?

"Wait..." Hunter's hand dropped down and her eyes met Kim's, "Did you call me bombastic?" She hissed.

Alice, finally returning to the world of the living enough to recognise the situation and surroundings, gripped Hunter's dress with a hand and spoke timidly, "Hunter," Hunter looked down at Alice's pleading young eyes and her glare melted away instantly, "You can't start a fight Hunter. It- it would be wrong."

"Awww," Hunter put both arms around Alice and hugged her tightly, "You're SO cute! This is why I always follow you around.

Alice, completely used to Hunter's affection, moved her attention to Kim whilst still in Hunter's grip. "I'm Alice and... Um..." Hunter had loosened her python hug enough for Alice to pull a small handbook from her skirt pocket and flip through some pages with concentration building momentary wrinkles on her brow. She put the book back and looked back up to Kim to continue, "I am pleased to meet you." She said in a monotonous tone. Hunter bit her bottom lip and smiled with obvious thoughts.
