Well, i live in Arizona and I have to say that these laws are absurd though I do believe if your going to come live in America you have to become a citizen. I do not agree with the racial profiling nor do I believe in the things that Arpio does like "tent city". /sigh, Arizona just sucks. If you get a chance to move here...dont.

I am of italian, spanish, french and jewish decent but I was born In Los Angeles California then later moved to Mexico and raised there.

The people are so kind so it breaks my heart when they are discriminated against because most of them are here illegaly because they cant afford to pay for citizenship they just want a better life you know?

Whats "tent city"?

Also I'm sorry I know that most of the people there are nice and only jump the border to help support there familys. Also its not a mater of not affording it. Its just you have to go threw so much crap to get citizen ship and even then they can't garentie that you'll get it and you have to wait for ever. It's like takeing a number waiting for ever and then your incuriance people telling you, you can't get dental care or something. (Wow haha thats a horrible thing to compare it too XD)

You idiots, an Aryan isn't a pure white person.

God, this thread more than any other demonstrates just how stupid most of you are.

Hmm, well, let me put in my two cents about this. Now, I recently heard that because of this law, the all-star game for baseball might be put out as well, due to the fact that 27% of baseball players, are people who were born outside the United States. This would pretty much affect Arizona "economy" wise, simply because this one move would cost them at least $40 million. Also, this seems pretty similar going back to WWII, after the U.S. bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki (?) Weren't the Japanese Americans exiled out of the country, or sent to camps, because Americans feared that they would be spies for Japan or something? I guess we pretty much forgot that we were at war with Germany and Italy at that time, since nothing was done to the German and Italian Immigrants of that nature. :/

Anyway, would we say that this whole deal between Americans having a problem on accepting others into this country be linked to a greek word, "Xenophobia"?

They were sent to camps and those people lost their property

and I would have said "xenophobia" if it was targeted at ALL illegal immigrants but this seems to be targeted to mainly Mexicans

Aryan is a white non jewish person the term becamse popular among Nazi during WWII there are still white supremacy communities that rather use this term
To me it has a negative connotation and usually associate aryans with racism as opposed to simple "whites"

Uhhh....You really can't compare this to WII. This isn't anything like that. Also Mirus your friends shouldn't be here illegaly. If you really cared for them you would encourage them to get citizenship.

They were rounded up and put into internment camps where the conditions were horrible. And they couldn't round up people of German and Italian descent, because they look exactly like every other white person in America. The EXACT same reason why cops won't stop Europeans who are here illegally and ask THEM for identification and papers; they don't "fit the profile" of an illegal immigrant.

Hmm.. when did I say I had illegal friends?

I do not as far as I know, and if they are illegal none of them are stupid enough to tell me, their "white friend"

I think you might be misinterpreting my previews post, I was raised in Mexico and had friends there that were Mexican, never mentioned having Mexican friend here in the USA

Also, we speak od the panic Americans had regarding immigrants (ALL immigrants, including legal and illegal ones most of the immigrants if not all however, were legal because at that time citizenship was not as difficult to obtain as it is today ) not the war itself and here it does seem some people overreact concerning the level of danger illegal immigrants pose on the USA

It is not the immigrant's fault that the economy is "down the toilet" in fact, immigrants (illegal or not) are GOOD for the economy, they only come here to work and really, they end up being the buiseness starters and owners because they are risk takers, I could go on and on about how bot legal and illegal immigrants are good for the economy but I have a US History test to study for...I apologize for sounding "snotty" to you, that was not my intention just try to read posts more carefully so misunderstandings such as that one does not occure with high frequency

Azure Knight wrote:Do you know what happened last time the US enforced a law that racially profiled? The Japanese-Americans were rounded up and put in internment camps. Yep, "No prob."
This. Same thing happened in Canada, too. I'd suggest "Obasan" by Joy Kogawa as a good read on what one of the better Canadian internment camps was like and how they were treated back then. They broke up families (In the book, they seperated Naomi, the main character, from her father and uncle, while her and her brother were left in her aunt's care) and confiscated posessions (they took her uncle's boat, that he made himself, before shipping him off to a labor camp.)

It did not matter to America or Canada one whit that some of these citizens of asian descent were in fact 3rd generation (as in, their Grandparents were the immigrants. I believe the term for this was "Nisei" though it could have been "Sansei" but one means 2nd and one means 3rd) and some didn't even speak Japanese or know how to read kanji. It was a perfect example of how horrid a system racial profiling is. Yet, even after the war, they had no home left to return to.
