You're talking about my mom !

`if youre going to make anyone do anything make me do it not my mom

The reason why I dont think she is racist is because when she sees a black person she still treats them with respect. And she does not assume that all blacks are bad people I guess maybe she does not like the way they look and wants appealing grandchildren?

I think if you meet a bunch of people who are similar it is very easy for your mind to mark them as "Bad" which can be cosidered an implemented animal instinc...plus, looks at the media and how the movies portray black males. Personally if I see one at night an im alone and he is staring at me i'd feel scared but really thinking about it i would be scared if any guy of any race stared at me while I was alone walking somewhere at night... because that is steriotyped as a bad guy and why? The media, the rumors, expiriences, instincs and common sense.

I personally have nothing against black people and actually met one who I really liked he was really cool like someone out of an FBI movie, with authority and everything... except he was chubby

Also there was a time inmy childhood when I felt bad for asian people because I thought that all of them were ugly but now i love em all!

which is funny and ironic...<3 To all races

Now I think i'll get attacked even harder...?
Your mom's racist, deal with it.

And apparently, you are too. Congrats.

In all seriousness though, racism and discrimination are two completely different things.

For example, my fiancée lives in a bad city with gangs and shoot outs. Not being racist, but in her community, it's predominantly the black people caught up in the gangs and gang related business. While she's there, she tends to not trust black people. However, when she comes up here, she knows there's next to no gang related business, and she'll talk to anyone because I live in a much nicer community.

It's not so much racism as it is a focused discrimination. It's no different than judging someone on the clothes they wear. She doesn't dislike the black populace as a whole by any means, but her city is just a bad city and she only trusts those she knows and go figure she mostly knows white people there. Just like, if anything, I grew up in communities where the whites were the assholes. (I'm white, myself, by the way. Hell, my last name is even "White") I'm not racist or anything, but I'm more inclined to ask that well-dressed black man if he has a watch and what the time is than I am to ask the poorly dressed white punk who is clearly not smoking legal tobacco. It's just that it's easier to trust a suit and tie, and yes, this is discriminating based on clothing which is pitiful in itself. It's sad but this is the world we live in.

Anyways, sorry for this being off topic, but I did just want to point out that you can discriminate against groups who predominantly consist of a particular skin tone without being racist. However, the individual is always overlooking their own faults and can try to make excuses to cover the truth. I, for one, grew up in a very multicultural family (For example, my white aunt married a man from India and their son married a chinese woman), so I can proudly say I, personally. am not racist. But, who knows? Maybe you can accidentally come across that way?

Just saying... take some time and think on it, and how you really feel on issues of race/ethnicity, as well as gender. If you're racist or sexist? Well ultimately no one can change you but you, and that's if you want to change. All I can really say is, racist or not, be considerate of others, since for all you know that random person you meet, who belongs to a group you dislike, may very well one ay be an important part of your life.

Racism (Source)
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Sure, there's a difference between racism and discrimination in the same way that there's a difference between an orange and a fruit. "Two complete different things" though? Not even.

@Keyaki: I doubt this topic will get locked because afterall one of the purposes of this thread is to talk about race, thanks for your concern though!

Okay, so I really REALLY worded that wrong. Remind me to stop posting here at night when I'm sleepy.

I meant to say "Racism is but one form of discrimination, and a rather serious one. However, There's a difference between racial discrimination and discrimination of other forms, be it adultism (Age discrimination, namely singing out children as inferior) , sexism, or whatnot. My point being that you can discriminate against someone who just happens to be of a differeing ethnicity than you without specifically disliking them for the color of their skin.

To work with the orange and fruit analogy, apples and oranges may be different but they still fall under the general nutritional category of fruit.

My point is... everyone has a favorite fruit and that does not make you prejudice against the other fruits because you eat them too just not as much because your favorite fruit is... your favorite fruit

As for what I like to eat. I think it all depends on more than just color. In my opinion, there are pretty ones and ugly ones of each.

What does your dad like to say?

"You can date pillows just with pictures of real women not anime"?

Anyway, my mom and grandma always tell me that it's dangerous to eat strawberries because they are the ones that carry sickness more easily, they have to be like super clean to eat
