I think Ovan will die. It's just a hunch.
I'll be glad when he does, too. I never felt any attachment to him whatsoever. Usually, I can feel SOME level of attachment to a character, no matter how much I dislike them. I dislike Tsukasa, Terajima, Yowkow, and a couple of others, but there's always something about the character that I feel attached to as an aspect of them--Tsukasa's story moved me, Terajima's feelings were understandable, and Yowkow's desperation to avenge herself is something anyone can relate to. With Ovan, there's nothing there at all that makes me feel attached. The only other .hack character I can say that about is Balmung.
I guess the fact that an AIDA is eating him up like a cancer doesn't strike anything up in me because he's kind of a "Whatever, that's his problem--kill him off and it goes away" type of character to me. Other characters, even side-characters or characters like Gaspard, I at least FEEL a certain way towards what happens to them.

One thing that is becoming certanly that that will happen, is his death, In Vol. 2 he desperately fought Haseo to pobably be DataDrained and end worse than a coma victim since noone can contact him so Yeah, I think he´ll die like the hero of "The World"

He probably will die, I mean it's hinting a bit more now, as there's more scans showing, notice how they slightly revolved around Ovan more, as well as actually see him being well.... ugh.... happy?
Well it seems as though they want us to feel bad for him, and give us a tear jerking moment with him. That and anyone notice in the latest scans? All the Epitaph users BUT ovan is there? And during the last scene when you see everyone, Ovan's got the light surrounding him, but he doesn't seem to have the whole Epitaph Aura around him meaning it's more like one of those flash things of Ovan.
But it makes me wonder, if he does die, what will happen to the Avatar Corbenik? Will it just roam around The World freely? Or maybe Ovan's PC Character completly bursts into pieces and Corbenik fully controlled by AIDA pops up. After all.
That as far as I know Corbenik might have 3 or only 2 forms.
"Attachment to Life" since Ovan's alive I guess, or something not sure.
"Attachment to Death" Maybe the moment ovan dies, the Second form bursts out of it.
Though it's only speculation without even researching anything so ...yeeaaah

Ovan shall keep making the game fun and should live.
If ovan dies you all non-mods and non-admins die

If Ovan dies, then Corbenik would probably seek out the next qualified Rebirth Epitaph user. This is assuming Corbenik isn't destroyed or something like that.

It seems like he would die. But then again, if he's anything like Corbenik from the first series, and Bandai-Namco wants to continue this franchise.....He might not die. Not so much of dying as passing his power on to another person.
By that I mean, the Phases were destroied once you beat them in the last volume, but they somehow were re-incarnated as avatars inside the characters that looked completely different from the other typical players of "The World". Who's to say something more left-fieldish, or of the same path won't happen again after this series?
Not that I'm complaining. I don't mind spending 40 a pop on another .hack series, because it is a fun game, afterall.

I hope he won't.
But you can never know what will happen, especially since his AIDA infection his so large. He can't be feeling too well in the real world.

I agree. In fact that might be necessery to get the full power out of all the avatars since Ovan is infected with AIDA. By transfering to a clean player all of the avatars would be united on one side. Of course who it go to is unknown but probably another party member.

How about a twist? What if it goes to Aina? I *think* that's possible.
Well, Mia was an AI and a Phase, maybe that´s possible, but isn´t she the new "womb" for the creation of the Ultimate A.I.

Really? I'd have expected YOU of all people to warm up to him after the new scans reveal that I was TOTALLY RIGHT THREE MONTHS IN ADVANCE and Ovan seems to have a cute "Oba-san" relationship with Ovan :3 *snuggly feeling.*

To be fair, Ovan probably isn't in the scene with the other seven since he's not part of Project GU (The guild).
But it makes me wonder, if he does die, what will happen to the Avatar Corbenik? Will it just roam around The World freely? Or maybe Ovan's PC Character completly bursts into pieces and Corbenik fully controlled by AIDA pops up. After all.
This is one of the main reasons why I don't think he'll die. That and the whole point of the story is for everyone to be saved (Universalism), though at the same time, something will have to die for something else (Eina) to be born, thanks to the principle of Apoptosis, though that would probably be the Avatars as a whole.
I agree. In fact that might be necessery to get the full power out of all the avatars since Ovan is infected with AIDA. By transfering to a clean player all of the avatars would be united on one side. Of course who it go to is unknown but probably another party member.
That wouldn't solve anything, unfortunately, since the Avatar would still be infected.
As for who it would go to, in the hypothetical case, I'd guess...

Either Shino or Yowkow, since they were both literally "Reborn" and woke up from their comas.

Yeah, but perhaps it helps her... or something.
Here comes a theory
I think that All the Phases will return to the Ultimate A.I once their objective(in which I don´t know) is concluded, because the Ultimate A.I. is them and they are it, just like in the end of IMOQ.
Edit: Small theory don´t you think?

It's Ovan thats infected not Corbenik. Or rather they are one being. Assuming Ovan dies wouldn't the AIDA die as well?
And assuming he is a good guy after all, the fact that he isn't joining Haseo seems to hint that something bad is going to happen to him. And even if he was good after all he still caused alot of misery to people with his actions even if there was good intentions in the end. I think him dying would be a great plot point and a moving scene if done right.

Well if Cubia is the same with the Avatars as Kite was with Cubia, then if they defeat Cubia wont the epitaphs die also>?
