Well we got this teacher for a class where we build computers and repair them, the teacher we had before knew more and was better but he got fired for sexual harassment
So... I prefer this teacher way better
He says he has laptops but he is building his own computer at the moment
I'm sure it'll be a Windows 7 with avast is that bad? because mine is Windows 7 with avast XD
I didnt build it though... I did change the graphic card *proud* haha!

Nine years of wasted experience I'd say. I've been dealing with browsers and web editing just a few years longer than him. I started on macintosh OS8 and (if you can believe it) netscape, now I'm on Windows XP after trying out W7Ultimate and seeing how hard it fails.
Web development shouldn't be done on a browser in the first place, the coding takes too long and it's not always accurate on the first try. You get conflicting code that disrupts object placement and you have to go back and tweak it.
Besides that, Firefox has Greasemonkey as I mentioned earlier. It can edit pages that already exist, or you can open a new tab and make a page from scratch before you put it up on the net. It even lets you save your progress as separate sections if you want. You can use multiple scripts on the same page, or have them work for multiple pages, or even have them work on every page.
Firefox also has the largest database of user created add-ons, making it the most developed for open source browser. You can even edit the browser itself any way you like!
If someone thinks a closed source, low security, P.O.S. like IE is anything other than garbage they should have their computer taken away from them!
Oh, and a quick way to check if your teacher is a moron when it comes to computers is to just ask him "What kind of computer do you have?" If he answers with anything other than "I built it myself", "Linux", "A Mac", or the name of his processor, he doesn't have enough experience with computers to teach a thing about them.
And ya know what, if he fails that, ask him if he uses Norton. If he says yes he might as well just quit his job and throw him computer off a bridge.

An operating is only good if it accommodates all your needs. I tried Windows 7, but it was stripped of hardware options, driver UIs, and about 5 other things I use quite often. It only improved appearance wise, while requiring more RAM, wattage, and processing power to run the basic OS, which wasn't very efficient for me.
Avast is "ok" at best. "Avira: Personal Free Edition" with "Spybot: Search & Destroy" together make a FAR more secure computer, and since both are free its cost effective. Avira updates daily, spybot updates whenever you want it to and has preventative measures in it to keep viruses, malware, and spyware from getting into your computer.

Actually I think I went a little overboard with that one. I wasn't really in a good mood at the time. Most of the stuff still rings true, but I could've phrased it a bit less abrasively.

I've no doubt, though, that it's simply due to the fact that it's been out longer than most browsers with extensions. It's simply had more time for duplicate add-ons (as in add-ons that many individuals thought they made better or first), themes, and practical extensions. If your going for quality over quantity, I wouldn't doubt that every other major browser has the same featured extensions by now.
Now, I'm not sure if any of them are biased, but I've been looking at a lot of major web browser comparison sites. They're from various releases of each browser type, I think there are a few up to date though.
(for those wondering, I put "browser performance comparison firefox chrome ie opera" into the Google search engine for most of these)

Greasemonkey just edits CSS and HTML, not DOM. Otherwise they're the same.

Nah, you just haven't had as much experience as me. You'll find out in time, you just have to look at the dark underbelly of the net, get screwed over a few times by it, and learn from your mistakes.

I think Internet security is more important than speed. Sure Firefox can't take a few seconds longer to load some pages, but you can always add things to speed Firefox up. Also Firefox gives you way more options than the other browsers.
IE has been getting better, but needs many more improvements. The worst thing about IE is its fail security. You can go to common websites that no one usually and just some random trojan, or worm attack your computer.

Once I was reinstalling Vista because it kept crashing (Vista sucks) and I thought I should be able to download the basic things like a firewall, more antimalware programs java etc without any threats. Boy was I wrong. I should be able to visit commom websites such as Yahoo, MSN, or Youtube with no problems. Right when I was thinking to myself "you should be able to go to common websites were no one normally gets." Right there is when it said trojan detected, and block. I couldn't even finish the statement in my mind. The rest of the statement was "gets malware from after all I got Avast, and just installed the security updates."
Good thing I didn't check my email, or anything that day. One of the scariest things that happened to me while using IE was I was playing Runescape, and I got a trojan blocked out of nowhere. I thought oh ****. Log off Runescape, reformat, use Firefox, and changed my Runescape password. Lucky me nothing happened to my account.

I just installed Firefox 4 yesterday. There's actually a noticeable performance improvement! It starts up WAY faster than 3.6, loads pages all at once instead of loading the pieces, and its just generally faster. It even loads java and flash tons faster, like the with game Elements, it used to take about 20 seconds to get it to load, now its only 3.

Erranty: Pink makes people happy(scientifically proven) and I want to be happy (specially since im depressed lately !) and share happines with the rest of the board! Plus it's unique so I know when someone quoted me and know where to pay attention LOL
zaseo: IE 9 is beautiful ^_^ better than anythng you can get on Firefox!
Windows 7 is a BIG improvement from Vista ^_^
Runescape? Mabinogi is better!

So, Microsoft finished the final version of Internet Explorer 9 for Vista & Seven.
I'm little surprised to say that, but the IE9 is really better than before. It's well-integrated on Windows 7 =)

I downloaded IE9, and this is what happen a few seconds with using the browser. Internet explorer is not responding. Yeah I tried it again later, and it at least looks better, but Firefox 4 still wins. Sorry Mirus, but the personas that you can add to Firefox is truly beautiful. Who needs the default look of a web browser when you can make it look any way you want. I'm not sure at what extend you can customize IE, but it can't match Firefox. You can even get a persona to match your desktop, and blend in at the same time.
Windows 7 is so Leet. Windows 7 + 464 gb is pure win.
Runescape doesn't have the best graphics of course, but that doesn't make a game. RS is fun. Also Maplestory + its Big Bang update is far more epic than Mabinogi.
