The philosophy of balance dictates meny things in life. In order to do something good, Light has to do something evil. If you try to do something its going to have equal resistence. Just like Ryuk's offer at the end of episode 3. In order to gain, you must give.

Light is trying to make the world work without giving anything in return, all he wants is power.

He thinks that hes balancing it out by killing bad people, but most criminals are actually good people. And thus his ideals are unbalanced.

Take my best friend for examlpe, he's a convicted rapist, but the story behind it will tell you a different truth, and the instant you sit down and have a chat with him you'll think he's the greatest person alive! Hell I let my sister date him knowing full well all what happened, because I know what 'really' happened and trust that guy with my life!

That reminds me of a comic I saw on Devaintart.L got a hold of the Deathnote and read that rule and started ripping out pages going "ITS LIKE A TISSUE BOX XD",and got the idea to shred the pages and let them fly out the window.Public its ahold of them, sees Ryuk,Ryuk goes "Give Ryuk your apples and you will be allowed to live." Light sees the news capture about Ryuk, and goes "L,Wth...?"

I actually like the use of apples. It's symbolic of the forbidden fruit found in the Garden of Eden, and while the Bible is not clear as to whether or not the fruit in question is actually an apple, most people make the associating (i.e. Adam's apple).

It's just comedy relief, people. I doubt there's any real meaning to the apples.

The apple is like the fruit of the Garden of Eden in that Ryuk had given a human something humans were not meant to have at (like human's weren't supposed to originally know of good and evil until they were given the fruit) Although this is confusing since they have the ability to transfer eyes to human's which shouldn't be needed if this were the case.

For that matter, what are the point of Shinigami anyway? It seems like they are supposed to kill people before their natural time, but doesn't that seem unbalanced? What's to stop a Shinigami from wiping out the entire human race?

As for human's becoming Shinigami themselves, they can't become full fleged ones, but they can gain the lifespan of one assuming a Shinigami sacrifices themself for them. (like Misa)

Well I just watched the first live action movie with my girlfriend. I dont like the actors they chose, Light seemed too carefree and not as mysterious. L seemed like he was Ryuk's brother or something.

Please realize we're only talking about the anime here, not the movies.

Well. If you ask me, I thought that the VA that they got for Light fits him perfect. Although, I am a L fan, I can't really say one way or the other since I haven't heard L's voice yet. I haven't got the chance to catch much of the dub yet, but from what I heard I like.

I will say though, that I do not like the way that they pronounce Kira....makes me cringe.

But it's supposed to be a corruption of "killer," so that's how they pronounce it. What's wrong with that? :o

It just sounds to weird in my opinions. I just don't like it. They should pronounce it the way that it is spelt.
