They said in the linked forum that 5000 gold goes for $650 US (illegally, but that's the "black market" price), so that's actually worth a lot of money. I'm not sure, but I think this might actually be more legal too, by both US and Blizzard law. I'm no expert on WoW or prostitution though, so don't quote me on that...

I think I just threw up in my mouth. I'm not sure if I want to play WoW now...

....The only online games I play are GaiaOnline (name:Little Miss YA-Chan) and MapleStory (name:AtoriShino). I definitely wouldn't prostitute myself for ONLINE MONEY.

You're not missing much-- the game is graphically lame. The quests can be a little repetitive too.

I'm glad I didn't say "Yes!" when my friend hacked a private server and offered to let me play on it with him. This game sounds like it attracts smrt ppl. >_>

EDIT: No offense to any dothackers members who play WoW. You guys are probably the exception.

Heres an idea you should consider.

open your eyes and don't think that what everyone says is true.

If you don't know who around you knows the truth,or if you want to know the perfect truth,than open your eyes and figure it out,looking forward at the problem,instead of back at those who assume to know the answer.

S1lentOp was the one who said it was false. You asked how he knew, and I quoted his post that didn't have any proof it WAS false, and came up with some counter reasons why it COULD BE true.

I think it's true. And also, doesn't this make her a really expensive whore? I don't know anything about WoW or prostitution, but that sounds like a lot of REAL money for the fake money...
So, she isn't the only one who's been desperate for Gold... She just took it up another notch... BAM!

I've read and heard that it was false. If it was at all true, it is a sad day when a woman whores herself out to any random guy for fake money to buy an imaginary item for a video game.

in my opinion, it depends on the game, if it's some online game that makes you pay to play, then it's most likely playing you. but theres a lot of games out there that don't control you

WoW runs on a three part currency.

Copper- Extremely Easy to Find
Silver- Slightly harder for the lower levels; 100C=1S
Gold- Hard to find for most; 100S=1G

It is actually quite hard to make that much money, and so gold can be sold for real life currency at high amounts.

People ACTUALLY do that these days, and I'd like to see you have sources saying that it's fake then.

5000 gold is avg price of 500-600 dollars. Yes, people DO buy golds with real life money. It's not sad, it's insanity. And there are people that'll do anything who's obsessive enough to get 5000 gold (fake money)
