Umm, Azure Flame Kite's role was never retconned. If you'd rather they change it, then you want a retcon. Also, it's not like they waved their hands and proclaimed Unison was canon. You know what it came boxed with? The Udeden audio drama. If you like Unison so much, you should be able to understand that to make things like that it might be necessary to go outside the bounds of canon. Without fully considering what they were planning on doing later, they went ahead and made it anyway, so that you could enjoy Sora bouncing around and attacking Mistral, and monkey dancing or whatever... And they still have the convenient AI excuse anyway, so who knows? Regardless, they probably planned that Haseo would be Sora from the beginning of the .hack//G.U. project, even if they never really worked it into the story very well...

or it's just another one of those things that they left for us to figure out,and it DID raise alot of questions,which in the end created heavier speculation and more desire to play the game.
I'd say we are little more than puppets in their hands.

I kind of liked the idea of Haseo being a fresh new player in The World. And then they decide to **** slap me with this bull- no wait. Its not even worth ****. This is chickenshit. Completely pointless and stupid.

The only plus in this if he meets up with Takumi Hito in real life, and they start hanging out.

Umm, I don't think it was ever stated that they were in the same class, or even that they knew each other. I think that's a weird rumor... At the time, Wiseman was probably not even living in the same city...

The truth is, fans in Japan loved Sora so much that they wanted him back. I believe many people even wrote to Famitsu magazine about it. It's a known fact(in Japan) that many ideas in the .hack world come from ideas of the fans and from other MMO's. It wasn't originally planned to have him come back, but with so many requests it was done. It just had to be done in a way that would fit with the storyline as all the ideas have been. That is also where you get most of the anime and manga from, that is canon and non-canon. Ideas that can't fit into the game. It's all screwed up and confusing. I think the fans make it even more confusing than it should be. Ohwell.....about Sora part of me likes it, part of me doesn't.

Actually, the Japanese fans are as against the Haseo thing and the abundance of non-canon as we are (at least the online ones, the ones they get their feedback from), and I'm pretty sure CC2 planned Haseo would be Sora since before they even made the proto trailer...

Wow whats the big deal? He might as well not be Sora, since it's only vaguely hinted at in the game itself and his memories are gone and aren't coming back. He's a completely different person now.

I think I remember him crying in Unison because he had no friends.. I really felt sorry for him, but then Tsukasa invited him to join their weird ass dance. ^_^

At least he's got a lot of good friends now, (And potential mates, woo!).

When I first heard about .hack//G.U., I was so excited, especially hearing about PKs roaming around everywhere. I even had this little joke of the users idolizing Sora.

For some reason, I already had a feeling that Misaki Ryo was also the user behind Sora. Why? Because I checked Haseo's age and did the math from there. And the interesting part was, this was when there was barely any evidence, except the age. I mean, right after Ryo woke up from the coma, wasn't it obvious that his parents wouldn't let him play that game ever again and even lie to him about the incident? Sora in UNISON is definitely an AI, since I could actually imagine with enough old data, it was possible to make an AI like the actual Sora. And not only that, but if you were Mr. and Mrs. Misaki, would you let your child play the same game that got him into a coma?

Either way, I'm pretty happy to find out Haseo and Sora are the same person.
