Lykala took a brief glance and shrugged. "Fine, I suppose."
Eyeing the corpse made him lose his appetite, so Lykala stood and stretched out. Falsai followed suite, like a zombie following her master, though the relationship definitely didn't apply. "Do you know where the military is right now, Falsai?"
"No. My visions extend to you, and you alone," she replied, picking up his dagger and testing it carefully, "For example, I can say with certainty that this blade will see more blood before the end."
"Right," he grunted, with less vigorous protests. He accepted the blade, twirled it, then locked it in its sheath. He snatched its twin from the earth and repeated the process, "Let's get moving. Jason, if you're carrying that, you'll have to keep up. We're not moving any slower just because you want something to eat."

"Not threatening at all then. Oh well. I guess that's to be expected. I guess I'll just have to be extra charming." Skadi smiled malevolently and put a hand on her scimitar.
After they had been traveling for a time, she tried once again to lift her right arm, it wasn't going to listen to her very easily. She snarled and got it to raise halfway up before it dropped back down limply. An improvement, but not enough to make her happy. The exertion had caused a bead of sweat to form on her brow, her breathing had become haggard, and she wore a grimace.

Jason agreed with their unanimous decision, after all, he wanted to keep the deer, so it was only fair that he should carry it. He ate a piece of meat and put out the fire, he hung his bag over the deer’s head and after the deer cooled off enough he heaved it over his back. “I carried this thing here on an empty stomach, and recovering from broken ribs, I’m sure I can carry this on a good day.” Jason simply smiled and followed the pack, purposefully taking the rear.

With Jason's early wake-up call on their side, Lykala was impressed by the progress they made. By the time noon arrived, with the sun blazing clearly in the sky, unimpeded by the wispy clouds, Preuron's garrisons and outlying regions were on the horizon. The place was crawling with Gridamas military - they even passed a few patrols - but without word of Lieutenant Faris' death at Lykala's hands, they paid the group little heed. He allowed himself a small ray of hope; maybe Rigulus wasn't as distant a dream as he had first feared.
A smile on his face, he turned to Skadi and Jason. "Okay. Once we get there, I'm going to look at finding some transport to Rigulus. Jason, you'll have to drop that deer pretty soon, else you'll attract some suspicion. And Skadi, um..." he paused, thinking of what the other two could do, "Can you two try and find a route to the Cave of Origins?"

Jason sighed when Lykala told him to drop the deer. "But there's still a lot of it left!" He dropped the deer, following Lykala’s order, although not before ripping off a piece of deer meat. “I can probably make jerky out of this-Wait what?” He could not believe Lykala would even think to put Skadi and himself together, but he did. “Me and Skadi, together?” He glanced towards Skadi and sighed, “I won’t object if she doesn’t. I think that’s the fair way to deal with this.”

Skadi shrugged. "I'm not opposed. I'll need someone to do the heavy lifting for me for the time being anyways. Just don't sleep in my path." She turned around to walk facing Jason. "So, unless you have a better idea I say we head to a tavern and ask around there. There ought to be at least one traveler there that can tell us where the cave of origins is, dontcha think?" Not to mention liquor. She glanced behind her to make sure she wasn't about to run into anything nor step in a hole.

‘Sleep in your path?’ Jason thought for a moment or two on Skadi's joke before remembering it. “I don’t think I will, but if at all I can, I’ll try!” Jason smiled and threw a “thumbs up” at her tavern suggestion. “I was thinking of going there too, oh yeah, one more thing.” He reached in his bag for Skadi’s hammer. “I don’t want it anymore, so take it back or I’m leaving it here.” He held it by the head, so that she could take the handle. “It takes up space in my bag, and it’s useless.”
