For a start, the idea that Endrance had a real cat called Mia was a theory given in order to explain his attachment to the AIDA. Assuming that Endrance is actually Elk, I doubt he ever owned a real cat.

Of course, both could be true. There's a seven year gap between series. Who's to say he didn't get a real cat at some point and name it after Mia? That maybe got run over by a car or something? Have you seen the streets of Tokyo? Crossing the street is dangerous!

if im not mistaken endrance even said "Mia" after haseo beat him its was right before the cat came at him.

And if it wasn't for that exact scene, we would be thinking less on the En=Elk theory (the only thing that would support it, other than age, would be the connection Elk had with Macha)

Who said Endrance had a real life cat? It was probably referring to Mia the AI. It'd be so like Ovan to refer to the Vagrant AI Elk was fond of as "His cat."

It was mentioned somewhere that Endrance had a real life cat and AIDA mimicked that cat. I think Yata was the one who said...i dunno, i forgot

I just remember watching it somewhere, and it wasn't in the forums (it was either .Hack//Wiki or somewhere in the game)

The cat he was referring to here happens to be the AIDA known as Mia.

During the battle, he's first talking to Mia (when he says "Why aren't you here with me in this world" and he keeps going), then he starts talking to Haseo (when he says "Why do you want to become strong")

The 'Mia' he's talking about is the cat on his shoulder, the "AIDA Mia". It's not the same cat person, however, if the Endrance=Elk theory is true, he's just forcing his own mind to think it's the same Mia.

The story (according to me)

Elk and Mia are happy together after Unison
Mia is abducted and perhaps raped by Amagi, as he steals her Epitaph Data and kills her for the RA Plan
Elk saddens because of The World R:1 data lost and lives a poor emo life
Somehow, he gets a cat, and calls her Mia, perhaps giving himself an idea that is Mia's reincarnation in the true world
Mia dies or gets lost and never returns
Elk joins The World R:2 in hopes of finding Mia, gives himself the name of Endrance and chooses Blade Brandier; now deciding a warrior class because he has the encouragement to protect Mia now (instead of being protected by being a Wavemaster back as Elk)
Endrance is found by AIDA, and AIDA manipulates his mind, recreating the cat from Endrance's memory as the AIDA cat
Endrance, manipulated, decides to become strong to protect Mia, and so Mia will stay with him forever, so he shows his power to everyone in the Arena, becomes Emperor and is happy...until Haseo kills the AIDA.....and later he's happy again

I wouldn't be surprised if En ever calls Haseo "Mia"...

el oh el for the English Language. Just because the cat/Mia was "Endrance's" doesn't mean he OWNED her. The assumption that Endrance/Elk had a cat in real life that served as a third Mia just overcomplicates things and ruins the only really conclusive piece of evidence we have for the Elk/En connection, and is really not supported by the canon at all.

After all, I'm sure Endrance would rather talk about his real life cat having passed away recently than a stupid water pillow.

Indeed, it could be that AIDA was directly confusing En's mind with the thought that it was the Macha-Mia...I still go with my theory of a Mia cat being owned by Endrance, and i'm not gonna go down with it until official stuff say otherwise

After all, I'm sure Endrance would rather talk about his real life cat having passed away recently than a stupid water pillow.

He never talks about Mia to you, actually >.> Only flirts with Haseo and spits up some minor real life stuff (his pillow and the food he likes) every once in a while.
