That should have been marked as a spoiler.

In the final offensive against the wave, Helba makes a vaccine to herd the wave to certain areas. She'd postition people that had the vaccine in areas to herd it. At one point elk gives morganna the vaccine and she uses it to develop an antibody and blasted away some of Lios's men. Poor babies... Elk disappears for a while but realizes what he did was wrong and that he was only thinking of himself. So he sacrifices himself to save kite in the last battle against morganna(Corbenik).

I think that pretty much explains it. If I got anything wrong... Forgive me!

Sora kind of got what was coming to him. "What goes around comes around." But I still feel bad that it happened to a fictional character. At least he got to exist as a Vagrant AI in The World for... a while. Until GU I guess.

I meant he was there until most of the data was lost. I don't think he's in R:2. That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

But he got out long before that too... Remember? He was free by the end of the games, like everyone else, and even appeared in Unison...

Same as Subaru and Tsukasa....all 3 are AI's, perhapse their avatirs were "cloned" in the world so when the "real" player isn't on line, their avatirs remain in the World.

I thought so. That's what I meant. He had an AI counterpart in The World. That's kind'a cool when you think about it. Except all the .hack//emotional problems. Maybe the game is supposed to cause depression...?

The only reason why Harald Hoerwick created The World was to keep Emma Wielant's Epitaph of Twilight alive and satisfy his wish to have a daughter with her. Because of Emma's death the only alternative was to create an AI and humanize it. What makes us humans? Freewill and emotions. To collect these emotions he created The Eight Phases, but Morganna rewrote them to only collect negative emotions like death etc.
So Skeith "killed" all these players to collect informations on death? But in .hack//SIGN and Sora's DD Morganna said it would be worse than death!?

Actually, no, that's an error. The World is just fine collecting data on it's own. The Phases were made by Morganna to halt Aura's growth. They were never intended as parts of the data gathering system.
