Didn't it say on the data sheets that came with the final disk that Cubia was an anti-hacking/anti-virus? It explained that it attacked Kite because it thought he was a danger to Aura/Morganna, who were a part of the system it was supposed to be protecting.

That is what AuraTwilight is referring to, they are only Theories, facts, and guesses created by fans of .hack, apparently the team that worked on Liminality, were actually dedicated to their work, so they made a little easter egg full of theories and facts, everything you read about the epitaph is true, but they never say when they derive from fact or theory.

It is said in .hack//Analysis, as well Aura says it to you in the game that '"Cubia is the Dark Side off the Bracelet" nonexistent until the Bracelet came into being, if the owner chooses Salvation, Destruction must come in another fform, Yin and Yang, one of my favorite parts about .hack. Upon Skeith's defeat, Cubia had enough Junk Data to manifest himself, as Kite drained more phases the Junk Data rose and rose.

As well in reading a little bit of the Terminal Disc in the G.U. forums there's a file called "Cubia, the Shadow of nothing" or something like that.

Well not exactly the fans, but the translator team did more or less make fanfiction.
