Well, to tell you the truth, anime isn't exactly babyish. It just depends on the person watching it.
Say for example someone doesn't like Naruto, but they like Digimon. I for instance, think exactly opposite of that.
Someone might like Kare Kano, another might like Gundam Seed. It all depends on the genres, story and taste of the person really. I mean, come on, even the ART is a thing for some people. Someone thinks this:
If the anime has crappy art, then the anime's crappy.
To watch a babyish anime...? I don't really think that exists because mainly, anime is romance, fantasy, action or doujinshi...no to mention *censored* stuff.
But if you watch something like .hack//Sign for instance, what do you think? Is it just for kids or is it more for the mature ones?
It all just depends on how a person thinks.

I never have liked the argument that anime is "better" than live action film, because there's really so much out there to both mediums, and it's an unfair judgment. They both have their positives and negatives. Keep in mind, also, S1lentOp, that when you say "anime have better storylines than typical American'made movies," are you referring to anime series with 13+ episodes? I don't think it's fair to compare over 6-12 hours of an anime story to 1.5-3-hour films, in the first place. If you're comparing anime FILMS to Western films, though, there really aren't so many anime films that I would put ahead of some of great Western films. Original anime feature films aren't as abundant as series.
SnowManZero, are you kidding? Most anime isn't out to please? Oh, come on. There is a ridiculous amount of fanservice in modern anime. In my opinion, anime of the past couple years has, generally, sucked, compared with some of the greats of the early-late 90's and early 2000's. Of course, there are a few exceptions; but on the whole, I find modern anime to be more focused on boobs, loli girls with guns, and fanservice than anything. I think the best example of the quality modern anime just isn't reaching would be Evangelion and Lain, two of the most unique, incredible animated creations of our time. The only anime that's even come close to the overall greatness (I'm speaking objectively here, not subjectively) of Evangelion has been RahXephon, but even that didn't get the kind of wide-spread acclaim EVA has received. Honestly, I think Satoshi Kon, Shinichiro Watanabe, Yoshitoshi ABe, Matoko Shinkai, Hayao Miyazaki, and, hell, even Katsuhiro Otomo, even though Steamboy was garbage, are some of the only directors and creators who keep producing amazing, after amazing, after amazing anime. I agree that Hollywood, today, is all about Marvel films, shitty remakes, and awful excuses for "horror," but there have been some amazing, under-recognized films in that mess (Charlie Kaufman and Wes Anderson films, for example). The same goes for anime, really.
Anyway, I think the best example of anime spanning all ages is Miyazaki's films. You could take absolutely any Miyazaki film and argue its political, symbolic, and mature aspects, along with its ability to be a great children's film, as well. I think Nausicaa would be one of the better examples, with its commentary on the ruining of the environment, and it could really be applied to our modern world.
wow an adinistrator posted i umm wow thank you i am thankfull to here everyones opinion
Admins post quite often actually. Sometimes they post if you need info, but most of the time they post if there is a good discustion.
As a side note, you admins really need to put a spell-checker in the "Post a reply" box

Well, as this is a particularly sensitive subject for me (ppl misunderstanding anime as a genre), I'll say it straight: I'm a teenager, nearly all of my friends are younger than me by a small margin, and I was originally inspired to become more interested in anime/manga by my Japanese art teacher: who's in her mid 20's. (she's a coolest)
So no. I can confidently say that anime is NOT simply for "babies" as your classmate stated.
I mean, have you ever
seen any of the
Adult-only-Mangas, (you haveta been over 18+ to even READ them!) Or gone to a Si-Fi/Anime Con? Those ppl cosplaying are usually in their 20's-30's at least.

Like said before, there's kids' anime and there's mature anime. Just like manga which I'm more familiar with. Same with books, movies, pretty much everything. If someone says that all anime is childish, someone can also say that all books are childish, all movies are childish etc. There are movies that don't have a proper storyline, but which rather concentrate on sex and violence. There are anime like that. Blood: The Last Vampire was visually absolutely pretty... but it's plot... eh, did it even have one? I've seen movies with real people as actors like that, too.
Then, there's very deep stuff, like Kino's Journey. It's very thoughtfull anime series, I adore it. Well, there are movies with actors like that, too.
Actually, anime isn't a genre, but rather a style. Like black and white movies. There's comedy, romace, action and everything within these styles.
