sonic adventure, i loved that game, and the second one, it had good games and good hardware, just no one bought it, so it never made it big.

Eh, the PS2 has some damn good exclusives, mostly in the RPG department, so it's definitely got quality titles; it's the hardware that's bad. It dominates the RPG market, so generally, that's where my money's going. The Gamecube employs some really great, first-party, multiplayer titles, but it lacks terribly in the third-party department. I'd definitely rate it as the top multiplayer system, but I'd put the PS2 and Xbox ahead of it in terms of third-party franchises.

Sometimes, it comes down to the genre you like.

XBox: Big on the FPS and sports.

PS2: Big on the RPG and action games.

Gamecube: I call Gamecube the "Party Box." It thrives on the multiplayer games such as Mario Cart that are perfect for having the friends over.

Dreamcast: Dunno anything about it really.

Many people underexistimate the Playstation 2 opting for the Xbox instead. But while the PS2 can't do some of the things the Xbox can, it still is (I think) as good if not better than the Xbox. For one the majority of the best RPG games come out for the PS2 only. Xbox only has a couple RPG and compared to the amount and quality the PS2 has..they get like an F-. The only problem with the PS2 is if you more the Shooter or Strategy game type you don't have much of a selection.

Dreamcast, in my opin fell to the same problem that it's predecessors had, competition, and the "zombies". cryin' shame actually. I had a lot of fun on it. I guess that explains one of the reasons I don't like the Xbox.

The Cube really doesn't have a lot of good RPG's; it has a very small selection, vastly overshadowed by the PS2 RPG market, just as last the PSX did last generation. Xenosaga and .hack are but two of the games, which I don't even consider to be that great, out of the dozens and dozens of excellent, under-recognized RPG's the PS2 has to offer. I could compile a list, but meh. Sure, I loved Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, and Paper Mario; but when it comes down to it, the PS2 is the RPG console; Gamecube, like Grey stated, the "party box." It's definitely got the greatest multiplayer function, and most of the 4-player games are really easy to pick up and play.

Oh, and it's Nintendo's own fault that they've always had a shitty and non-existent online system. While the PS2 is online-enabled, no one utilizes it like the Xbox Live, mainly because it doesn't offer anything, really. Thankfully, Nintendo is getting their act together with what seems to be vast online support for the Revolution. So far, however, Sony and Nintendo should take notes; Microsoft has excelled greatly in the online department.

But you're comparing Tales of Symphonia to one of the more mediocre Final Fantasies. PS2 doesn't have quantity over quality, at least in the RPG department; you just appear to not have played most of the non-mainstream RPG titles.

I'll have to agree with Maromi on that, and not for just RPG's some action games have been overlooked as well. For example, bujingai: the forsaken city.

First why does XBOX Live piss you off? It utillized new technology. Splinter Cell used something new. PS2 has many great PRGs. Shin Megami series kicks tail, final fantasy, Star Ocean. I dont enjoy sports games except for SSX but they make them to satisfy those who liek sports. Wouldnt you be pissed that if they didnt make RPGs because sports people didnt like them. Dont get me wrong I'm not saying that the GC has nothing. I enjoy Zelda, SSBM, RE 4, but they missed a great oppurtunity of Online.

Once the Gamecube switches to the Revolution, though, I predict much more support from the genres.

The Revolution is crazy...better than the XBox 360 judging by what I've read.

Then again...the 360 is pure crap, but I won't go into that...stay on topic, eh?
