The female character of the intro music

I am still confused. From what I got from the posts, it seems everyone thinks its Helba. What about another character?

The only evidence that connects that woman to any specific character links her to Helba. That evidence may or may not be meaningful, but there's absolutely none for any other theory.

No theory? I've had this theory since I began watching //SIGN...

The dancing woman is Helba. Not the player character, Helba, the person behind Helba. I think the dancing is simply a stellar visual of showing how hacking *could* be done.

The woman begins dancing and jumps into the system of The World. When she dives into the strange area where Aura is, it's like how a hacker is able to locate hidden files/locations while hacking. It's not gate hacking, but it's a similar process.

Subtle Hints:
Red Lipstick - It looks purple, or violet, magenta, whatever, because the shots which feature the lips are DARK in nature, so it's hard to tell the exact hue, but if the shot was lighter, the lipstick would most likely be red anyways.

The Headset - We can't see the user's face (eyes) because that would give away the person's identity. A hacker wouldn't want that.

GIFT - Everyone in the opening of .hack//GIFT is shown drawn out of proportion. So why is it that the dancing woman becomes Helba at the end? DUH!!

It just doesn't make sense. Why would a character that isn't mentioned till episode twelve and only appears in five or so episodes be the main figure in the opening trailer? It's like making Corbenic the mascot of the games.

Aura that is a really good question. Everyone thinks its helba, but what if it was the women who wrote fragment.

You mean Emma? It might be possible, except she died before The World was even invented. I'm confident that it's just no one we know in the show. It's just a person.

Helba is first mentioned in episode 9, not 12. The Project .hack team already knew what kind of role was in stored for Helba, so why not put her in the opening? It's the least they could do since we NEVER get a nice close-up shot of Helba in the show...

Um...she's not?

Helba is first mentioned in episode 9, not 12. The Project .hack team already knew what kind of role was in stored for Helba, so why not put her in the opening? It's the least they could do since we NEVER get a nice close-up shot of Helba in the show...

And yet it looks nothing like her. The skin color, hair color and style, and lips areall wrong. Along with other things, but people probably don't care. Frankly, if it was Helba, she'd be in her Helba suit, or it would atleast give a clue to her identity. If anyone should be dancing, it should probably be someone with more than ten lines in the show. Like...Tsukasa or Subaru or atleast someone besides the plot device.

i swear... isnt it enough that the creators of .hack//SIGN drew her as the actual in-game helba in //GIFT ?? isnt that enough to indicate that it is helba??

who cares if it doesnt look like her, thats not her in-game look, thats her real life body... no one looks like what they do on the internet, thats given when we see who subaru and tsukasa look like at the end of the series

GIFT was a parody, and if you use GIFT as a credible source of information, Tsukasa's ingame character is a girl and Kite's class is Sandwich.
