Points for implying that Twilight was just bad PR for monsters and the occult.
Twilight has created two types of monsters that it calls vampires and werewolves that are nothing more than a teenage girl's wet dream of their favorite fantasy boyfriend (this is actually how Twilight was conceived), thus causing a "vampire craze" throughout young adult audiences that marketing have taken full advantage of to perpetuate. In turn vampires and werewolves have been totally associated with Twilight in popular culture, making it necessary to actually qualify any mention of vampires or werewolves in damn near anything.
Unless you happen to be around people who actually know what the f**k they're talking about.
And those people are few and far between.
But thank whatever being is sitting up there that this board is filled to the brim with 'em.

Oh, I don't know. Let's not confuse hating Twilight with knowing a thing or two about vampires.

Lul Alucard Vs Edward is not even a fight. XD I do hate that you cant even talk about things like Hellsing or Blade anymore without someone throwing in Twilights name. :/ (I'm a pretty big Hellsing fan myself.) But I completely agree with you there, down south you cant bad mouth Twilight unless you want them to grab their touches and pitchforks.

Wasn't the book like 3-5 years old before the craze even started? God that's why I gave up on society...
I can't even talk to my friends about FMA anymore, anytime someone hears the name "Edward" they instantly say
Them: "Who Edward Cullen? He's so dreamy!"
Me: "No, mother-f***ing Elric!"
Them: "Which book was he in?"
Me: "The one called GO DIE...."
Arystar Krory (Dgrayman) vs Edward isn't even a fight, and Krory isn't even a real vampire and he'll kick that sparkly **** ass!

This is one of my favorite comebacks to use.
The funnest thing to do is to make fun of Twilight when talking to Twilight fans, and listening to them try to defend it. My friends and I have loads of fun doing this to a few classmates of ours that we're friendly with.

I find it amusing how most of the people I know who watched the movies only like them because of the brief scenes of male upper body nudity, completely ignoring the horrible plot.

Well let me express to all of you "thank you" and to twilight....
ANAK KA NG PUTA EDWARD! NAKAKAHIYA KA SA LAHAT NG BAMPIRA DITO SA MUNDO! sorry if I typed it in Filipino, it's way to vulgar for the forum.

There's no double standard to be found here, though. It's like Elaine says in one episode of
Seinfeld, "Men will sit through the most boring, pointless movie if there's the slightest chance a woman will take her top off."

Hmm... I did something like that when I was watching 300.

And that is also in incredibly stupid reason to go watch a movie. See? Double standard is no more.
That being said, people actually do go to these movies both for the fanservice and the so-called "story."

Read better. I said there's
no double standard.
Although I suppose there is a bit of one in how a mob of 40-something females can go shouting and ogling over a teenage male without anybody calling the cops, but the other way around? Not so much.

Here's what I want (and if I had the chance, will) say to all the Twilight Fans out there in the world.
"When God brings His hand upon Earth, I hope He flips you all off."

Considering that the quote you were commenting on was criticizing women for seeing movies for partial nudity and then you, in your comment, gave an example of someone pointing out how men go to see partial nudity, I had every reason to believe you were being sarcastic. If you weren't, then it's almost as if you're trying to give an example of a double standard wherein men criticize women for seeing certain movies for the same reason some men go to see movies.
In other words write better.

Well, several things led to massive dislike to Twilight, I can't say I actually hate it because I've never actually sat down and watched one of the movies or read the book therefore it would be pure pettyness to say hate. It having the misfortune to come out at the same time as several other vampire love stories (True Blood/Vampire Diaries) is the first, causing me to automatically be suspicious. The second was when I was in Borders one time my brother, who'd read them because of his current girlfriend at the time, and he was trying to convience me to read it, suddendly a girl comes out of nowhere and says "Are you talking about Twilight!? IT'S AWSOME!!!! I JUST
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!"* I look at my brother and tell him I will never EVER read them.
Note that the ! is the level of excitement she made while talking about it to a TOTAL stranger. Such fanatisism is often the mark of a cult, in which I want no part of. The third has been spoken at great length already and is their twisting of mythology for girls fantasy, what's next the Swamp Thing? The Mummy!? The Sphinx!!? Please stop before all of all beloved mythology is ruined forever.

Samething happened to me at hottpic. The hottopicis really small and shoved into a corner in the mall, so its really hard to move around and even harder to avoid the Twilight section. Saddly trying to avoid some fat lady in the way, I had to go threw the Twilight section. Some girl ran up to me asked me if I liked Twilight and said that Edward was so hot. I used one of those "Ooh look there's a sparkley vampire!" mocking twilight fans phrases and made a mad dash for the door.
