Tiers exist, but always are up for change. It takes a LOT of time to determine a tier list. However, tier lists vary region to region (though there are similarities with a lot of them when it comes to the top tier area).

Yes, I'm in the Smash scene, and yes, Meta Knight is God Tier at the current moment (unless something happens during Genesis), and yes, it does consist of a bunch of tourneyfags.

oh well, time for more wisdom - which might just be a restatement of someone else, but meh :U - sure tiers exist, and as long as people act judgemental, then they always will. However, tiers don't limit skill, they just put labels on overbalanced characters.

so, if I had to label characters, I'd say a character like sonic is 'higher tier' because of his speed and combo skill, whereas ganondorf is 'lower tier' because of his hard hitting attacks and slower speed. Of course, those don't change anything in terms of skill, and someone who knows how to use a 'lower tier' character can EASILY beat the crap out of someone who knows how to use a 'higher tier' character, as demonstrated by Erranty's 'Ganon combo vid'.

When you have skill tiers won't matter. Check out Tekken 6 death combos on Youtube. If you have the skills, timing, and know your position on each stage you can make a come back victory.
