No, he gained control of hollow ichigo's powers in that instance, not his bankai and incase you haven't yet realised-those espada's which can pwn hitsuguya like he was clam chowder are doing that to ichigo like he was dirt(worse than clam chowder).

Spoiler button, give us an indication of which chapter your refering to. You have to be more specific when talking about it hitting the fan, simply because in bleach it does just about every week.

GoZero, if you got surprised attacked by someone as unmerciful as grimmjaw jaguarjaques in term's of being impaled through the stomach and then having his body blown to smitherines it just prove's that 1-your dead and 2-You can get easily surprised. tousen "surprised attacked" grimmjaw but tousen, while using similar tactic's(surprise attacks) also lost to zaraki kenpachi. Does this mean that Kenpachi is stronger than grimmjaw?
Luppi got that position because he was a piravon espada(an espada ranked member, who they didn't have room for in the top 10) the #6 piravon espada, not because he support's tenticle rape.
ichigo was getting anihilated by grimmjaw who hadn't even released his full power yet and who was using only half of his power to begin with, while hitsuguya beat a released luppi(ranked number 6, same as grimmy) with his 1000 ice prison thingy. He should've died then and there, but the negaicon(hypothesis here) removed the harmful effect's (the ice) on luppi, but didn't recover his injuries, so it can also be argued that luppi was still suffering the effect's of the battle, and was worn out when grimjaw was revived and his arm regenerated and which he then impaled onto luppi.
As for speed advantage, yes ichigo has that-but thats it.
Experience goes to hitsuguya, cunning and batt;le strategy goes to hitsuguya, weaponary power goes to hitsuguya.
