The discussion in this topic has gone off-topic. This was a place to discuss the preference of Japanese or English anime, however you chose to pick on a troll.

I unlocked the topic again. Kouen is a tad bit lock happy. >> (Like I'm one to speak)
Anyway, he's right. Get back on topic or die. Or something.
And with me, it depends on the series. I usually prefer the JP versions by default, but G.U. and Eureka 7 actually have good dubs.

I was really suprised that most of the animes I've heard in English did have good dubs. I didn't care for Shaman Kings dub that much.

Pretty much any dub from the 90s and ALL dubs by 4Kids (except for Pokemon) are bad by default

There are exceptions in the 90s dub (Slayers, Ranma, etc) but they're rare.

When I was an itty bitty baby and toddler, I watched it in Japanese, but later, my parents had to get dubs 'cuz I was getting all whiny due to the fact I couldn't read the subtitles and understand. Eventually, after learning how to read, I started growing back onto Japanese dialogue, even to the point of watching raw and uncut Sailor Moon episodes. Some shows have good dubs, but I usually prefer watching anime in Japanese.

I like both. I usually see new anime in Japanese first because I start watching it before it's out in English

After I buy the DVD i watch it in English from then on. The Japanese sounds smooth because that's the language the shows were made for, but that's also why I really love a good English dub. The English VAs really have to work at their work, and most of the time I really like English dubs. So anyways, I like them both equally

Both. Like I can listen to dubs first (cuase when I get the anime from a friend I'm like GOT TO WATCH THIS FAST) and then I like subs becuase I like to get phrase (listen to them over and over) and just keep repeating them.
Fav dubbed: Um..Azumanga Diaoh
Fav subbed: I have to say Rurouni Kenshin X3

Bah. You only hate American dubs because you're british. You're just jealous that british dubs REALLY suck, and American ones don't.
My case in point:

Well your trying to compare our regular dubs a "Fan Dub". You really can't compare those two; of course American dubs arent that great but hell I would rather have American dubs than UK dubs.
EDIT: Lucky Star hasn't even made it here yet O.O

personally, japanese, because with english, they seem to pronounce most of the japanese words or names incorrectly

now there are two points here

1: might as well compare it to a fan dub, as that non existing english one might as well be D:
2: it still shows how such things just get destroyed by americans

(and i'm not saying it'd be any better in english O_o, it may be a better better, may be worse, but either way, it'll still just not work one bit lol)

Really? I haven't seen that happen.
rofl, happens ALL the time. makes me cringe :/
especially with the names. if you hear them said in japanese, then hear the dub, they just always screw them right up :/

yet another example of how they screw up the japanese words
moah? who the hel is moah?
and thats not even an english word. thats not allowed >: (
of course with subs it is as we're used to the japanese words. moe, ecchi, oniisan etc
and haruhi couldnt even say her own name right :/
