I'm surprised no one has said Final Fantasy 3.

But I have to go with Pokemon and Lunar Knights.

so far, its an awesome game, of course ^^
but some people may of doubted how it'll work out. but so far, i'm loving it

i'm currently obsessed with the phoenix wright games
also, recently completed trauma center (one of the hardest games ive played, let along completed O_O)
and also been playing ouendan (osu tatakae ouendan. english version is elite beat agents)
those 3 arent your ordinary games, but they're damn AWESOME

heh... backspace works wonders.

Anyways, It all depends on your gamestyle and what games you may be interested in. Lemme tell ya something though, I know you could be afraid of what your classmates (or work associates depending on how old you are) may say, but give Poke'mon a chance. Sure, it seems a little... akward, but with some of the features we haven't seen since the days of the GSC arc, ( A clock you can check at any time, as well as several other features, some useful, some not even worth including) the "poke'tech" device is actually useful for more than one thing. (I've even been known to use it's calculator once to quickly compare prices at a store once lol) The pokemon sprites have been cleaned up a lot, as well as over 100 more new creatures added (I know, where the heck do they keep coming from??? lol). Another feature is that if you have a GBA poke'mon version (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Firered, Leafgreen) you can permanently transfer the creatures, once you get the "national dex" to your pokemon diamond/pearl game via the "pal park" and "migration" features. And don't get me started on the Wi-Fi features... all I can say is, give it a chance. You won't regret it if you ever liked the series before (we all know everyone liked it back when it was new in 1995 lol).

Another good game that most people will agree with is Mario Kart DS. The last game I can suggest would be Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2007 (if you like yugioh).

I was in a rush sue me. (If you do, I got Wright on mah side...)
Even with the new stuff, I really only liked the 493 total pokemone gettable (though, personally, I only use arceus)
I wish one day they make another story like GSC had. (it was good, really....play it)
anyways, for now, I'm gonna go with these for my list this summer
-hoshigami remix
-luminous arc(it comes in 2nd place next to G.U. vol3 in must have list!)
-yu-gi-oh '07
.......ZX ADVENT!! (3rd place)

Mario Kart DS. period.

It was my first DS game and still my favorite (I have like 15 or so). Not only are there lots of fun courses, there is also a "mission" part. The online action is so sweet, and definetely the best part of the game.
