Doppel Scythe is hold? The spinning blade made it look like rapid. Or is that just for show?

yes doppleganger is always +8 LV's higher then Haseo so it could still be at LV 108 even though the max LV is only LV 100 in vol. 2.

I don't think that there are any Rapid Attack Scythes. .hack//Wiki says that there are, but I haven't found them. Scythe Guillotine (Haseo's starter Scythe), Menacing Zero (Doppelganger's Scythe) and Death Cutter (Haseo's Lost Weapon) are all Hold and Release Scythes.

Yeah there is...you can rapidly tap X ( or O in jap ) to damage enemies. The rapid attack is not strong though. Using Hold And Release Scythes give a huge AOE attack.

wait-- scythes have a potential AOE attack? Is it similar in damage potential to the broadsword AOE? (or weaker)?

With codes haseo can go to lv 999 himself,so there really isn't a problem for the doppleganger to go 5 levels higher than the cap.
just supporting the point.

I'm sorry for changing the subject but Doppel always use the SAME weapon you use in battle? So would that mean that if I get a crap twin blade he'd use the same twin blade?

No Doppel always uses HIS weapons. So if you use a scythe he will use the Menacing Zero always. He'll switch if you do but only to the other Doppelganger weapons. In Vol.1-2 they are the strongest attackwise anyway.

o.O I never knew that. >.< that means it is actually tougher to beat him than I thought. I just had everyone spamming skills and healing each other.

I must be stupid, because I don't know who Doppleganger IS.
Where do you fight him in Vol. 1?

Or if you want, you can enter the keywords Elegant Your Shadow. He should show up in around 5 minutes, though it varies (?) for different players.

Would you still have to not move, because I went to a level 13 field and nothing happened.

The fact that it varies in any feild should tell you something.

Your not stupid.
I didn't fight him until my second time through(alright everyone,stop gawking,I know it's a shock)
Doppleganger is something CCcorp made for every player of "The World".

If a team or single player goes to a field(it dosn't matter if they move or not) and stays there for X amount of minutes(where X is somewhere between 7 and 15 usually) than doppleganger will begin wandering around.
The doppleganger is a monster that takes the shape of the party leader, haseo in our case, but with a completly black colour sheme, glowing eyes, advanced movement, and a black aura.
It also is 8 levels higher than Haseo, and uses a series of weapons that is called the menacing clash series,in haseos case these weapons are a set of twin blades,a broadsword,a sythe, and then a pair of duel guns in Vol 3.

Most people clear an area of monsters, get a full moral gauge, then unleash beast awakening on it,which usually kills it in the area of vol 1.
In vol 2 AND 3 it gets stronger though.

I think that was a good description of it.

One more thing:
No form of Hangeki or Counterattack works.
This guy's a beast. If he tries to use a skill on one of your party members, he will use his skill. Countering his with your own skill won't stop him like it would any other monster/PC. You'll still do the same amount of damage, but he won't stand there and take the blows like normal opponents. He'll keep hitting whoever he's hitting.

I'm not sure what'll happen if he tries to use a skill on you and you use a skill back at him. I either forgot or I blocked every time.

you can stop him,you just have to be at a cetain level.

It's a case of not being able to stop someone who is twice or 8 times your level, but when the ratio is 1:8 at level 50,he isn't as far over you in terms of percentage.
