the exact same goes for xbox and now the xbox 360.
Actually the information is incorrect, Mircosoft are actually making money on each Xbox 360 they sell.

It's up to you if you believe it or not since its the internet :)

they have a HELL of a lot of money.

of course they wouldnt be making the PS3 (or the xbox's) if that sort of money loss would kill them. they know what they're doing
although lately, i dont think sony do know what they're doing, well they sure dont know how to please customer's too well, except for the ones that dont think too much for themselves or the rare ones that can afford to buy such things for the few excelent games to come out for them
The killer of the system was the price, and the ingorance of the Sony Crazy Gaming Mastermind Ken Kuturgi made some complete random statements which really pissed about 90% of the community off. Come to think of it, there focus is trying to win the media war rather than win the console war.... as they are passing it off as the first true Blu-ray player avaliable to all the countries. IMHO they should of continued with the PS2 with its large user base and then switch to the PS3 a year later where it would be cheaper, affordable and Blu-ray is more a neccessity (with a high price tag your competing with computers rather than other consoles) than a accessory.

the times have changed since i last knew anything XD
but still, they didnt make money at first, or at least with the xbox for sure (i hope i'm right this time anyway XD)

but yeah, sony just tell their customers what they want tbh :/

Sony is still working with the PS2, it's far from dead. The PS3 will become more popular later this year and early into next year, it's already starting to catch up to the Wii in sales.

Though don't think it'll catch the 360 they had too much of a head start since Microsoft pretty much jumped ship from Xbox to 360 it reminds me of how Sega was.

And keep in mind the Atari 2600 was 600 bucks when that first came out, oh wait guess most people aren't old enough to know/remember that. Any how whenever new tech comes out it's expensive that's just the way it is, and cause of the blu-ray the PS3 is more expensive then it would be.

Time will tell. Nintendo sure has managed to reach a much broader audience with the Wii. I'm sure that these are just rumors for now.

Indeed it was, or I may be thinking of the Magnavox Odyssey or maybe you're thinking of the NES which was 400 if I remember right.

Yes because it's always good to be a brainwashed fan and believe every thing your told. The good games are starting to flow out on the PS3, I know I plan on getting a PS3 soon but for now I'm still enjoying my PS2.

Well if microsoft would have done the same thing I guess it would have been a forumn saying rumors of microsoft getting out of gamming buissness. Unlike the ps3 the 360 just dropped all xbox connections. I dont even think they make games for it any more let allone xbox live cards for the origanil. Which I hate because my 360 doesn't let me play either mechassault game on it so I cant play xbox live with giant robots. *laughs*
