And nah, i think your hair is very awesome the way it is c: Depends of you, of course, if you don't find it bothersome or annoying, as many people don't like having long hair because of that.
I personally don't like my hair too much grown on the back part, for example. Feels uncomfortable to me, makes my back neck feel all warm, kinda tickles every once...and overall i don't like it ~3~

To be honest, if i were a girl (disregarding all other conditions and physical/emotional changes), i would also think of it as a joke if such a very pretty boy tried to ask me out, though i'd desire it was definetly not a joke, but would be unable to take it all too seriously. No freaking way someone like him would approach someone like me just like that...of course, it all depends on any past friendship and communication i could've had with the guy before. Might take it as a joke...but wouldn't definetly reject him.

Of course, i understand your situation overall. I've been turned down some (more like several) times during my life, and my last relationship pretty much ended with the girl completely ignoring me out of nowhere. So yeah...just because we're hawties doesn't mean we have the best luck or chances when it comes to girls =3=;
